Just wondering what owners of the V6 SE are getting both around town and on longer trips?

The computer seems to show 17-18's for our usual use of short, urban trips like school runs etc., but drops noticeably if I reset it before a longer trip using mainly freeways. Compared to my 300TDi Defender, it's all very upsetting. :)

15.6 around town in heavy Brisbane traffic.
12.8 on the hwy.

Running 98 oct fuel and a very light accelerating foot:D

Jik22, didn't we correspond re this a few months ago?

I don’t know the breakdown between highway use and around town consumption but my overall average consumption is 14.1 or .2

That’s the average consumption based on just over 40,000 kms of use.

We did, and on the first tank of BP Ultimate, it appeared better - but soon settled back to the crap figures shown above. This is also with the wife driving, and hence a very light right foot. :(

Buggered if I know then:confused:

I've just clocked up 10k with the economy sitting on 15.6. I've reset the trip meter a number of times and the econ always works its way down to 15.6 or.8 eventually on a combined cycle.

FYI the trip meter says the average speed is 42km. If yours is lower then I'd assume you're doing heavy city driving then me, hence the worse econ reading.

my 1993 v8 Range Rover does 5 km to the litre a tank does 300 to 330 km and on refill has used on average 64 to 67 litres.

Diesel usually provides 20 to 25% better fuel economy over petrol motors so your v6 doing about right fuel return
