I have a genuine 2007 bonnet (with the hump) on order, to make a fiberglass mould, and some exact coppies out of fiberglass. Now i dont have any final prices yet, but would anyone be interested?

slightly off topic andy but do you make a fibreglass roof for a 130, have heard somebody over east does them and though it would be worth a shot.

I like my bonnet too, but i like the 07 one better.
130 roofs, no? i know theres a mob on ebay selling 110 ute roofs in fiberglass for 700 bucks. Remember what happens to fiberglass when its smashed though, if you ever rolled it, your gone. personally i'd find an ally one. Saying that, 40 series toyotas had glass roofs.

Fibreglass is heavier than Alloy when its the roofs on Ebay.....
$700 is not cheap for them as you still have to finish them...

I dont know why someone would bother with a glass roof for their single cab though. Used ally ones aren't that hard to find, and i doubt they would want more than 700. I paid 150 or one that had been walked on when i did up my ute. I once got a quote to build a mould for a 110 wagon roof and that was $1500 with 1 copy. i didn't go ahead with it though.
130 dual cab roofs are rocking horse crap though, when wreckers wreck a 130, its normally rolled, and when they do have a half good roof, they want 2500 for one with slight damage.
I dont know why people sell fiberglass stuff that isn't a direct bolt on replacement and needs finishing. Its just lazyness.

If your going to make a new hump on an old fender..you should put a vent on it to assist with hot engine air removal...ask Rick he will know where to put the vent.

Na, i keep most bits for a rainy day. For the dash bits, sam at british auto parts in punchbowl is wercking a series 3 and a 200tdi defender, you could use the dash off either.

Hi Andy,
Any idea yet of **roughly** how much one of these bonnets would be worth?
Would you expect them to be heavier, lighter or about the same as the originals?
How much higher does the bump raise it up - the reason is because I am wondering about it in the context of my existing spare-on-the-bonnet 130 ...
If NOT too high would it be strong enough to mount a spare onto?
Cheers,
Cameron

I was hoping to have them ready to paint for around 5-600. I dont know how much it would raise it, i haven't even seen one. I'd doubt you could run a spare with the hump (whats the use of the hump if you cover it?) and the fiberglass would need heaps of reinforcing to suit. Ive seen ally bonnets crack with a spare on there too.

I'm thinking that with a raised bonnet on a standard model deefer it should provide enough room for a freakin huge top mounted Intercooler, because of air con, condenser and electric fans I can't mount one forward of the Rad without removing the grill..this maybe another option presenting it self;)

thats why i want a new bonnet, make it look a bit less of a backyard build. I'll put the radiator for the water to air Intercooler behind the grill as its a bitch to bleed in its current spot.

Please make me a copy. I like the new hump. I recently had an incident were my bonnet fell off, ( left the bonnet open and went for a drive ) so mines damaged and is in need of replacement. Let me know what happens.

I'm still waiting for my template to arrive.
I was also considering extending the bonnet out the sides and putting a foward facing scoop on each wing top where the heater intake is. See a bowler wildcat bonnet and you will know what i mean.

I'd like to own the whole Bowler let alone the bonnet. But I would take either. I have a 300Tdi HT with a larger Intercooler up front, soon to get larger Turbo and Gas injection. Would be better with good looking bonnet.
Keep in touch.

I doubt you would find aomeone on this forum who would say no to a bowler wildcat at the right price (not the 100k starting price!)

update on this bonnet thingo.
I could not find anyone who could do me a mould and coppies for a price that i thought was resonable (over 2K for the mould and 7-800 per bonnet!) so i am sticking it on my county. I will have pictures soon, as i painted it yesterday.
I bought it through Karcraft in silverwater, and i dont want to disclose the price (well into 4 figures) as they did me a special deal. It would be best you ring them and find out for yourself. It took about 8 months to get here though, as the new defender wasnt even available when it was ordered.
