I want to have built a good-quality internal roll cage for a LR Defender Td5 110 County Station Wagon. About how much should I pay? (Please indicate the country you're writing from.) Btw, it has to be custom-built as I'm overseas and it's not possible to buy one "off the peg", nor do I wish to have it shipped.
Also, please give any advice about fitting this item.
Thanks

I had one built in the UK and fitted in Australia.
Cost around $3000 AUD to have it built, but then you've got fitting costs on top of that. If you can have it fitted where you had it built that will help keep the costs down.
Also if you can get it built in the country the vehicle is registered then it will help with any engineering certificates etc. that may be needed in order for the vehicle to be legal.

sure, we will if you will,,
in addition to Grizzlys points--
do you want it out of chrome molly or cold drawn?
fully welded?
attached to the chassis?
lots of questions--
I would have thought the pommy sites would know more about costing roll cages,,
though having said that one of our members recently competed in the safari out here, so they must have had some sort of roll cage,,,

Yep Roll cages in the UK you know how extreme their offroading gets:eek: with so much wilderness to explore.
I thought all their hardcore stuff was comps only:confused:
When those new greenhouse laws kickin over there it will be surplus heaven for us:twisted:

Safety devices in the UK sell a lot of roll cages, but it may be easier to take it somewhere that does them for race cars and get them to build one.
