Am going away this afternoon to a 2 day shoot, (The Gumtree near Gunnedah)
am I imagining this , I thought there was some sort of inquiry going on regarding fuel prices and the habit of the fuel companies to put prices up over holiday periods ( even though they deny it)
NSW school holidays start after today, and it is a long weekend.
Deisel prices at the servos in Lismore ( and we are on the queensland rate) have jumped up to $1.31 cpl ( 6 cents more than last weekend) even the independents. Has there been a world price jump or has my imagination taken over.

The woolworths over this side at Joondalup put theres up yesterday from 115.9 to 134.9 strange coincidence? nah i dont think so... over here it goes up and down in week cycles raise the prices 15-19 cents then let them drift down again over a period of a week... im sure oil prices dont flutuate in that manner... so what else could it be?
i notice also deisel is going through the roof! good job we get near on twice as much mileage as you v8 boys ;)
Thanks

Crude is quoted at $82.88 (a $US2.00 jump today) for November delivery and even though the Aussie dollar is at 88cents the cost of crude to the refinery gates is still up about 10% from a few months ago when the Crude Oil was in the $US60's range and the Aussie only in the $US0.70's
So Yes there is a reason for high prices.
However why that jumps this week before a holiday is for the ACCC's fuel price enquiry to determine.

The ACCC's inquiry time has been extended to Dec,15.
This will mean the findings will be announced after the election.
If comrad rudd wins, it will be his problem.
If honest john wins, it means, he wont need to do anything.
No government would be silly enough to take on the oil companies.
I could live with a horse and sulky again !
Cheers, I think ?

South Coast NSW, Batemans Bay and Moruya, yesterday were $1.40 cpl for diesel.
Would it be a good idea for members of the forum to regularly post fuel prices in their area, that way if you're going away you will have some idea of fuel costs beforehand, maybe in it's own section, Regards Frank

I have noticed since getting LPG that while the ULP varies wildly the LPG sits at 50 to 55 cents per litre which I guess is about the same percentage variation as ULP.

Lismore:
Friday 28/9/7 at noon:
LPG is now 67 cpl here, geez!
Unlead is 125 cpl.
Diesel is 129 cpl.
That's before any supermarket discounts...
In Wollongbar, unlead is 122cpl from the servos that got busted for dodgy fuel....
The owner of the 11 servos that perpetrated the crime,
now has some serious charges to answer and may do time...

In Tassie we are looking at:
LPG: 66.9c
Unleaded: 133.9c
Diesel: 139.9
Luckily for us, we dont travel long distances, or else it would be financially unbearable!!

it's a function of the companies willingness to add their stations into the list... so yeah it aint comprehensive... users can add in pricing too!

Its madness but my Fairlane costs me 55 cents a litre to fill, 30 bux gets her a long way, 30 bux in the AU gets us up the street and back, off course its its a racket, someone is lining there pockets big time, but they know people will buy fuel regardless of price if it went to 2 bux a litre people will still buy it and they know it, all this started after the first gulf war, fuel went up to 98 cents I think and then with the next war and shortage threats it went up higher and higher and higher

What makes no sense to me it that the most expensive locations were in the Eastern Suburbs where it is close to the Botany fuel terminal and the cheapest was at Blackheath almost 100Km away in the Blue Mountains.
Also if fuel excise is applied by the Federal Government why are Melbourne prices always about 20% cheaper than Sydney prices?
