having recently purchased my first landy ,contacted my insurer nrma only to find they would only insure it for $2500 less than i paid {stating market value }being yet according to redbook it is worth what i paid ! has anyone else had this problem and could you reccomend friendlier insurers:mad:

Depends on what end of the red book value they are looking at, but they should at least insure it for red book even though red book is the biggest croc on the planet.

With my Discovery A.A.M.I. gave me an agreed value of approx $3,000 more than what I paid for it!
Give them a call (BTW - this is in South Australia)

AAMI have insured my 300Tdi Disco for a lot more than I paid for it even though I told them the purchase price.

Same here - AAMI would only insure my car for the lowest price in the red book - about $3K more than I paid for it.

Yep AAMI has done alright by me in the past and im still with them they cover my Defender :D

AAMI sh*ts on NRMA for insurance...my $15.5K 1999 TD5 D2 is insured with AAMI for over $20K, and they recently topped this up by another grand when I told them about my new raised suspension...at no extra cost to the premium...

well guys just got a quote over the net from aami only $100 more than nrma offered to insure it for:mad:

suncorp just offered to insure it for the value i wanted,almost $3000 more than nrma/aami were prepared to and for only a $7 increase in premium:D

I'm with 'Shannons' . I told them the value of the car & they insured it for that amount. I think its called agreed value.

That's what jap imports do for you, lots of V8 Disco's no one wants. Defenders are a different story. :p
looking at your calculations I'm glad you don't calculate my pay!
