So on a Defender / County / Rangies, which way does the oil transfer T to G or G to T.
I dont have the problem in my Rangie - its an auto with a gutted G/box housing between them. But looking at a County.

I forget the setup on series vehicles, and I know that in the R380/LT230 setup the faces of the two boxes are shaped to allow escape of any oil leaking from either side out at the bottom of join of the assembly ( the round hole that ordinarily collects dirt), so migration is prevented (as far as is possible for LR anyway). The only time I've heard of migration is in the LT95 all-in-one box, where, to the best of my knowledge, it's the gearbox oil that can seep into the lower transfer section. If it's a 5 speed, any leak other than at the output shafts is a problem.

My 76 RR migrated gearbox oil to the TC. The O-ring on the reverse idler shaft couldn't cope with the shaft being loose in the housing.
