Hi there

I am curious to hear the outcome - heart attack at 41 and as fit as he was.

After watch sky news before comming to work I have reason to believe there could be a lttile bit more to the story here.

And as others have said - I am almost 40 and not as fit as he was........scarry

Great Player but a drug taking Bi-sexual is gonna hurt..
Drugs are bad and Mainy is proof..
On ecstasy at 18yrs the heart can take it but , Depressed at 41yrs not so much.

RIP Mainy but for leaving two young kids behind I hope the drugs/lifestyle was worth the cost:twisted::twisted:
look forward to wife getting home from work to tell me what really happened.

He was a champion footballer who won two grand finals
He was also a good father to his children
He supported his community
He was Chris Mainwaring

God bless you Chris Mainwaring
May you rest in peace

Every time someone dies allegedly from drugs they are an instant shame on themselves and society
I think this is unfair as there are many people out there who are drug users and steal wound and kill to support their habit
AND ARENT EVER NOTICED
this time was different
Chris had a marriage breakdown and an obvious lack of judgement in his final moments but that doesnt mean he was a bad person or a bad role model for kids
Its up to the parents of the children that look up to these sporting personalities to help them understand that not everyone is perfect or robot like and that
****e Happens

so as far as that goes have a bit of respect for a man that has passed away and left behind a family that will miss him dearly

As a Collingwood supporter I used to HATE him but the bloke could play as much as I hate to admit it (we hate anyone who's not a Collingwood player :mad::mad:) but still awful what happend.

If that's what drugs do to people then stick 'em up you clacker I say.

Always interested in the fact that media sporting identities can have drug problems be known to be drug users and yet surprised they never get charged for drugs they never lose their employment for drugs and they never seem to get tested.

Jason Donovon can even release his biography and recoount his drug induced parties and yet never get charged or questioned.

Everyone seems to have known about Ben Cousins and Chris and in Rugby Andrew Johns was another high profile user.

If we don't put the high profile on trial everyone will just treat the issue of drugs as acceptable and the enforcement of laws as a joke

Totally agree Cartm58.

It has now been reported that self confessed drug addict Ben Cousins was with Mainwaring a couple of hours before his death.:mad:

Sad,
Chris was a great footballer and a nice bloke.
Question is was is Captain Cocaine that supplied him??:o
Probablly as he was around there earlier.
Had a marriage breakdown and being sued over a property deal, so all was not good.
A sad loss.

Yeah...and?? Not having a go perse, was aware of Mainwaring when I lived in WA for a cuppla years, but forgetting that, who hasnt had a marriage breakdown or had a property deal go south on them. FFS some of these people need to harden the **** up. Who it is sad for is the people left behind, Im so over all these "poor is me" lot from whatever background/ profile they come from. The poor diddums.

And yes I can speak from experience, went to post office for 1/2 hr came back and the missus plus my 18mth old daughter and 2 week old son were gone. After 48 frantic hrs of not knowing what was going on, her mothers partner rang me to let me know they were on a plane to perth ( I was in QLD at the time). I missed the first 6 mths of my sons life, finally managed to convince her to come back to QLD, trial reconciliation that lasted 6 mths, then since then shared care of kids. I had land repossessed, lost furniture etc etc dealing with being a part time dad and so forth. It was probably one of the most gut wrenching times of my life not being able to see my children, almost to the point of taking their pics down as it hurt to much to see their faces, but I tell you what I kept it together, managed to complete a degree with a distinction average whilst going through all that. And there are plenty other average joes and joesies :D, that had done same or similiar, ie pulled themselves up by the bootstraps and kicked on, not turned to " im depressed, life is not fair, I need drugs/alcohol/ or even worse necked themselves" so no not a lot of sympathy for the bloke but definately for the family,

Stevo

Not a good thing to happen to any person . And i don't see how they can blame a marriage break down and other personal stuff towards his death ... he was taking it well before then . If your doin the drugs it will bite ya in the ar$e before to long . As i said not a good thing and a terrible thing to happen to a family but he was a drug addict .

Chris Mainwaring was buried/cremated today.

Now I know that Chris was a popular fella over here in the west but is this going tooooo far

1. a public church service.
2. church service televised on Channel 7 and
3. church service broadcast on 6PR radio.

A little over the top don't you think.

I feel for all the people that have devoted their lives to volunteer work in areas such as aged care, disability care, mental health care and an infinate number of other 'behind the scene' jobs devoted to the well being of those in need.

I also feel for those that have had the 'becrappers' beaten out of their personal lives and through sheer determination have stood up, dusted themselves off and beaten the odds.

So many of these 'Aussie Heroes' have departed this world without so much as a thankyou or welldone. No public, televised or broadcast of their church service. :(

What is this world coming to.

Yeah, fair enough.
Though he was a public figure and touched many peoples lives and a large percentage of Eagles fans and WA people in general want to say goodbye.
I dont need to for Mainy but some may.
I did for Peter Brock, watched the whole service and was very emotional. These people may not save lives (and I know what I am talking about here being in Emergency services), but they inspire people to achieve and try and that is nearly as important. All of us take inspiration from different people in different ways.
