Hi guys,
Brain picking begin.
I have a 2a with a 302 Cleavland attatched to a C10 box and I love it to bits.

The wheels are 15"x7" and I have been told that if I increase my diameter then this will inprove the ratio on the road, sort of like adding an extra gear. apparently if I go for wider rims then I can get wider and higher tyres. I just dont really understand this 20mm offset thing. If I was to buy say sunraisers for my rover would I have to get them off-setted or would this already have been done? The tyres although almost new are **** and had them spinning to buggery last weekend all to no avail. I guess I'll just use them on my trailer. If anyone has any old series rims let me know. Cutting the guars doesn't bother me.

Difflocks. On the rear diff I have a manual difflock which protrudes from the drivers side like a large nut. the diff is locked in by unscrewing a bolt with a 5/8th spanner. I tried to look up manual difflock on the net to no avail. The whole system is foolproof and works a treat. Only I cant find any info, manuals etc or info on their workings. Can I put one on the front if so where can I get one and how complicated is it. I'm not really interested in air lockers too much to go wrong although the real reason at the moment too expensive to justify the outlay. Mind you I do have my own established compressor?

Winches. I know this is going to open up a can of worms just mentioning the subject but I got absolutly stuck on the weekend and have decided to reach into my pocket and buy a winch, not to deep though. Not too cheap and definatly nothing expensive, sort of middle of the road reliable. the car is already fitted out for one (removed before i brought it) and I have plenty of batteries spare alts etc. all I need to do is bolt it on.

I would appreciate any thoughts.

Thanks Tim.

for the wheels ID go back to the currend deefer rim (16x6.50) as that gives you a good selection of 4x4 rubber and light truck rubber tubed or untubed as you need it. and yes taller rubber will give you more top speed but at the loss of low end power which when you get to offroading is what you want more than a fast top speed.

for the manual locker like you have now you cant do it on the front. If you like I'll go into the details later. The rear unit you have is a good tough one and with that alone you should be able to push a series rover everywhere you need it to go without turning it into a competition style truck.

AS for the winch, Grab a 2.5t hand winch. hard work yes but its transferable between vehicles and offers a lot more flexability in its use. If you do want to go electric, manual or hydraulic theres literally Dozens of winches that can be fitted to the front of a series rover.
