I have a laptop with Oziexplorer, Natmaps, UBD City & UBD Regional Towns running with a GPS mouse receiver and powered by a Kerio power supply from the auxilary battery.

There is fault in it somewhere which causes a error message popping up.

The error message is "Bitmap image is not valid"

This message only appears if I leave everything running but turn the ignition off.

So everything is running and tracking ok. I stop at my destination, leave the laptop running with Ozieplorer and turn off vehicle.

When I return, I start the vehicle and the error message comes up. You are unable to clear it as it keeps coming back, you are unable to restart GPS or select any other function of Oziexporer. You are unable to quit program. The GPS position indicator is stationary and will not track your position.

The only way to clear the error is to restart the laptop. Only then after you ask to turn off computer it wakes up and asks "do you want to quit" Oziexplorer.

Any solutions or what do I look for? Do I look at Oziexplorer or other software problems?

The OS is XP Pro and there is nothing special about any other programs loaded. It is as boring as they can be.

Cheers.

Does the same thing happen if you put the laptop into hibernate/standby? How old is the laptop battery, does it still hold a decent charge?

Have you tried pulling the power cord out before you turn the car off, leaving the laptop running on battery, then plugging it back in after you start up?

Can you make it do the same thing when plugged into 240v? That is by pulling the power plug while it is running.

You can see that I reckon it's a power problem.

Cheers

Never had that problem but I would be pretty sure it is only related to Ozi and not the laptop.
Maybe reload the software and see how you go.

or

When I return, I start the vehicle and the error message comes up.
So does it comes up after ignition goes off or after starting?

I noticed the OziExp freezes if receiving bad NIMEA data caused by unstable GPS mouse work... Possibly, your power supply is not very good or not so powerful to run your laptop. For 3A laptop >6A power supply required.

To find out that is not other applications make a problem I'd do step-by step test. Turn on laptop, than Oziexplorer only witn Natmap and ignition off/on game. Nothing happens, run other staff what you normally running and ignition again.

Other test - no power supply, only laptop battery and ignition game again. Freezes, re-locate your mouse. Not a big chance, but it could take parasite frequencies from ignition.

One more: try to change Baud Rate to 4800 or 9600. The same settings must be in COM port (bits per second).

Try something and let us know how you go.
