Hi Bundy people,

If you could buy an acre or two in Bundaberg and wanted a decent house and shed where exactly would you buy it?

I've been to Bundy plenty of times but never taken any notice of where I would like to live etc.

Needs to be reasonably close to town as I don't want to drive a million miles a day but I have seen quite a few places that say they are 15mins to town.

Thanks.

I have a house on 1 acre in Innes Park. 200m to the beach and 20km to Bundy Post Office.

Still plenty of land available from Moore Park to Elliott Heads and all within 25km of town.

There will be a bridge built over the Burnette river in the near future which will bring up the land value along the coast.

They have also started a scollop farm at Port Bundy which has brought the land value up and released a whole lot more.

If you draw a triangle between bundaberg city, the port, and Inness Park any land that falls in the middle of that will gain in $$$ value in real terms in the medium term.

The other place is Sharon on the North Side. I used to own a couple of acres at Parklands which is 15mins outside of town on the Western side but sold out as it was in the wrong area for us.

I looked at a place online and the advert said 'located in the sort after area of Sharon'. I didn't know if that was salesman speak though.

Thanks guys. Any more ideas are welcome.

Do you know where the bridge will be built exactly?

Close to the beach would be good but we would both be working in town. So it would probably be better to live closer to town and further from the beach. Not much in it really but we will be driving more from home to town than from home to beach.

Sharon is a pretty nice place, a bit of the dual class system over there though - the haves and have nots. I like it over there and it is not far from town. The thing about living right on the coast is for those considering living in Burnett Heads, Bargara etc... is Maintenance. Salt causes big problems and not just with the things that would come immediately too mind. Your humble PC will start to have problems within about the first 18mths of living there, corosion is a big killer of Motherboards and USB slots, that then extrapolates to a lot of other PCB driven devices... that really expensive LCD/Plasma screen you just forked out 3K plus for....

Just something else too keep in mind.

Nothing is far in Bundy - time wise, but it is very easy to rack up 500 - 600 kms in a week running around. So closer to town or where you will be working is possibly something else to consider.

This is what I was thinking. It is nice to live away from town but if it is 20kms one way and although it might be quick at 80-100km/h but things add up. Especially when we are used to just going two blocks to Coles and six blocks to cinemas and more shops.

I haven't got a job there yet :D

I work for Dept Natural Resources and I have noticed that Bundaberg jobs seem to come up reasonably often. I have two to apply for this week.
When I used to travel for work I always liked going to Bundy.
Plus why spend $500k on property in Brisbane to get something that I don't really want when we can get something better for less with a more laid back lifestyle thrown in?
