Been driving the disco for a while now, and its been great. One thing that does bother me though is the lack of power. Having just come out of an AU Fairmont It has taken some getting used to. I nurse the car, cos im afraid ill suck in half a tank of gas if i go WOT.
Im sure ill get used to it though, and ive celebrated my 100th post with a whinge too

You're a master at the whinge - joke joke!

They aren't all that thirsty, I plant it often and on petrol I get about 18 litres per 100 kms. A V8 petrol Landcruiser gets well well into the 20's.

On ya,

You gotta remember that relatively small V8 is pushing a brick shaped 2.5 ton 4WD that isn't designed for the road, it's designed for carrying people and heavy loads offroad and for towing big trailers, your also confusing torque with power and excelleration, your Falcon has power and excelleration the Disco has torque for grunt down low, try draging another 4WD then you'll see.

By the way the 80 series 4.5 petrol cruiser gets 20lt plus and they only weigh 1985kg:eek:

According to Red Book specs the 4.5 litre Petrol 80 Series kerb weight is 2163kg, the Discovery V8i (1996) kerb weight is only 1854kg - a lot less!!!

Specs - Toyota 80 series on the red book (http://www.redbookasiapacific.com/au/vehicle/specs.php?id=105235)

Specs - Discovery 1996 V8i on the red book (http://www.redbookasiapacific.com/au/vehicle/specs.php?id=78155)

Only trying to help,
