I am not having a go at anyone but to me whats the issue? I still don't see why people read the paper to find out where the speed camera's will be and why all the guys at work are always asking me if I have been through a booze bus or drug station that day so they can avoid it.
I know they publicise locations to get people to slow down but that kinda defeats the logic you shouldn't be speeding or doing anything wrong in the first place.

We were up there a couple of months ago and didnt see a copper but then again, I wasnt worried about it anyway as I wasnt speeding, Drinking, taking drugs and my Disco's road worthy.
The general tip with the coppers up that way is if you have a resonably well looked after and mechanically sound rig and your not doing anything stupid then they will leave you alone, pretty much the same as anywhere in the high country as well.
They are generally chasing d!ckhead hoons not nessasarilly modified rigs but then again, you can never be too sure.

It's a bit different in Victoria.
I had to bring a copy of the Darwin newspaper home to show people how they publish the days speed camera locations.
Then I show them a Pic of a Camera Bus in Darwin all painted up and standing out like a dogs balls.
A whole lot different to the revenue cameras in Victoria with their sneaky unmarked cars and no tolerance for even a poofteenth over the limit.

we have higher speed tolerance than the ruddy vic's but they hide the cars often here in SA as well.
Fine by me :)

I don't worry these days. Local coppers know me and my rig. They know the way I drive and that I'm the one who stops to help. They only stop me for a breath test when there are no other vehicles to stop.
Guy who over took me the other day around a corner they booked:D:D.

to answer your q, and as we live near the Pacific and Bruxner hwys, RTA and police prowl at all times,
looking for any issue - the RTA is after 'off track'
b-doubles,
the coppers are after the 'hoon' element, but may check anyone, given the drug running that goes on...
which is quite fine, we have more than a few probs here...
a b-double was recently immobilised in a back street, hung up by power poles and stuck fast...
the 'hoon' brigade have deposited cars in homes, which is not a top idea

They often sit in the stack site near Marginal Rd.
I used to be pulled over fairly regularly when I was driving the Stage 1 everyday, but as long as I had all lights / number plate clean and I wasn't speeding I was fine.
My car is bent, but painted so it looks tidy (from a distance :D)
Drive sensibly and they generally don't give you a hassle.
Saying that, one of the YG coppers has a great reputation for not being a nice fella.

I was on the way back from a trip last year in the Green beast. I was pulled up at a booze bus for a test. Now everything on the Rangie is roadworthy except for the 35" tyres and maybe the exhaust is a little loud :o. and I had not been drinking, but I was still a little worried. After the test the cop asked me to wait where I was and he went over to call over another couple of cops. I thought I was a gonner, but as they walked back I heard one say to the other "that is awsome, you could go some serious places in that thing".
They came over telling me how much they liked it, then asked me to blip the throtlle while they had a grin from ear to ear.
And that was it!
Nice cops over there at Greensborough.:D

What happened there? Was that due to height or length?

Ive been pulled over 2 times since grommet got his Stripes...
Both times to giggle at the Zebra... and ask stupid questions....
My answer... put on the best South African accent and tell them it was retired from the Zululand Safari Park...
They look at you blank and then laugh...
