Good on you mick,
in this day and age, price dictates function and purpose.
I take it that was the on road price, not bad, is it the diesel version.

Mate at that price for a brand spanking new 4wd can't say I hold to much againest you! What is the go with the front bumper how much approach angle do they have. Maybe it's just the photo but it looks that low you would rip it off first time off road.

Other than that, not a bad looking rig.

Nah, there's another, the 'Commander'....it's gotta be the ugliest ever, so we're at least third on the list....

I like that:
see you in the bush!! Hahahah!!! check out the approach angle.......better off with a Holden HQ station wagon

They look better in the pictures than in the flesh - tacky interior and low ground clearance - but I guess you get what you pay for.

Would I buy one? - probably for a town car.

They are only new but the Indy susp Jeeps are pretty popular these days and apparently they work well.

Check out these threads http://www.ausjeepoffroad.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=158

Might give you some ideas of mods to make it of roadable if thats what you want.

Im pretty sure they are on the same platform as the KJ Cherokee which replaced the XJ (probably the best jeep ever).

I dont think your a traitor Mick, just temprorarilly lost his way, we went through a couple of Jeeps but the Disco has been the main stayer.

There are good and bad models and I hope this is one of the good ones but I havnt been in that forum for a while so I dont really know that much about them.

Good luck mate, hope you enjoy it.

Yeah, I agree 100% but they have the lowest warrenty call backs of any maker in OZ apparently.

If only they could build one that looked reasonable with that quality.

The Patriot has 21 degrees. The Defender has 49, D3 37.2, Freelander 31.2. It all depends on how you are going to use it I guess. I doubt many owners would be taking them off road.

Good luck to you Landrovermick, soon to be Jeepmick..:D
Personally I have two things against Jeep.
One may never happen again, but when things went sour in the economy in the 70's, Jeep simply abandoned Australia for a good number of years and all the Jeep owners were left high and dry with only a company in Qld importing parts.
Secondly, I have been known to call in to the Auction yards and look at the write offs. Jeeps are abysmal. They distort quite badly and there are still fibreglass panels in them. They get written off very easily, when similar damage on other 4wd's can be repaired.
So, as long as the economy holds up and you never are in a prang, you should be fine ..

I'd rather be in a rollover with a Jeep Compass than a Land Rover Defender which has just about as much roll over protection as a convertible..... ;)

Having said that, I'd rather be seen in a Defender than a Jeep Compass.... :D

Thats the Grand Cherry V8's.

I havnt heard anything negative about any Jeep product other than the Grands.

To much concentration on adding luxury and not enough on reliability or safety.

I work on these, they seem to go ok and haven't given any real problems so far.
Not comparable with a disco as regards clearance and off road ability.
Gearing is the main problem.
Rubicon has excellent gearing and off road ability, if you intend to do much off road work, check them out.

And that is a car that can perform off road. If they did a deisel version of the rubicon, I would probably be tempted (dare I say it) to trade my defender...

They are an AWD/ Softroader/ whatever. Not an off-road vehicle. You get the Jeep brand in a road vehicle. Jeep broke one of their in-house rules on this one - it can't do the Rubicon trail. That said, for the money why not? It's pretty much the same concept as any Subaru, a Kulger, etc.
