Gedday All,
Looking at replacing the tyres on our 2003 TD5 Disco. Currently still on the 235/70R16 Michelin XPC's after 60000km.
Have found 2 options so far: Cooper ATR or BFG T/A.
So which BFG to go for? The LT235/70R16 is only rated at 900kg with speed of S which is less than what the vehicle placard says. Is there another?
The Cooper ATR in 235/75R16 is only rated as a "passenger" tyre with the light truck only available in 225/75R16. Both these tyres seem OK in terms of the placard.
The Cooper ATR passenger tyre has nearly the exact same number of plies as the original Michelins so does this mean the original tyres are only passenger rated. Do the replacements have to be "light truck"? Should they be?
Is a light truck rated tyre going to give me better performance/longer life etc fully loaded towing a van?
The other thing I notice is that the recommended rear tyre pressures on the placard for a full load is 46psi but the 235/75R16 Coopers only have a max pressure of 44psi so I guess these really don't stack up either?
So perhaps I need to find another tyre? Any suggestions of recommendations please?
Sorry to bombard you with all this but I'm having a hard time sorting this out.
Cheers
