One of the kids spilled coke on the keyboard and won't own up?

Or your computer could be set to some other type of keyboard, but that's more unlikely. Plug in an external keyboard and see if that works.

Google keyboard cleaning. Best not to pry off the key tops unless you are verrry patient.

If you pull the keyboard out of the laptop you can flush it with alcohol and then leave it to dry in front of a low, low heater, or a fan.

If you don't care pull the keyboard out and put it through the dishwasher (only for the brave and foolish.)

At worst there are always spare parts on ebay and keyboard replacement shouldn't take more than an hour, and that's if you've never lifted a screwdriver before.

Cheers
Simon

Hmmm, I think mine used to do that also. I'd check the task list to see whats burning (ctl-alt-del), but wouldn't expect anything. Then I'd try a restart to make sure its not from something running in the system. This said, I've had the keyboard replaced before also on my laptops as sometimes they seem to get an intermittant fault where leaning on the computer seems to flex the body enough to cause problems.
