A while back there was a thread on here about someone who worked for a battery manufacturer who had got very good pricing for us on here....and now I need it, I can't find the thread or remember the battery make to search by. Anyone got a better memory than me?

Not the one I was thinking of, but thanks anyway - won't hurt to check on Optimas too.

The thread I was after was a cheaper make which I think was Aus specific.

Contact Westrac and price the CAT batteries.Their sizes/part nos/cca are listed on the website.
They do some serious batteries, designed to survive earthmoving equipment and they are not much dearer than normal batteries.

Cheers Andrew - my problem isn't so much price as space though. Remind me to show you just how bloody small a D3 aux battery compartment is when I next see you! My REMCO was quite small for 80Ah, and even that's too tall! :(

What did you stick in the D2? From memory, they don't have a lot of space either, do they?

Hi Jeff
Jamo can give you the specs if its for a D3 second battery, there are pics somewhere too,he used Drivesafes SC80,and its Landrover aproved.
If Jamo dont see the post send him a pm.
My Cat battery in the D2 is slighty bigger than standard but still fits.
Check the Cat website as all the sizes/cca are listed.

Jeff,

Ive got an Odyssey 1200, but it's only 44Ah.

I understand there is now an odyssey 1500 that will fit in the aux battery box. It's at least 65Ah or may even be 80, I'm not sure.

I know an Optima D34 fits, as I found a post on a UK website on this very theme, but they are extortionate here unless I can find a better quote than the $350ish locally!

Found a couple of the Supercharge ones that look as though they may fit, and waiting on prices.

44Ah is pushing it, I think...certainly won't run a Waeco overnight, as that even hits my 80Ah Remco quite hard...but 65Ah may do it OK.

How much was your 1200, if you don't mind me asking - I have a feeling Odyssey are quite an expensive battery, aren't they?

Don't remember how much the odyssey was. It'll run my Evacool for about 36 hours. Not much, but I switch it off at night.

Very good battery, though. Can be mounted upside down (although i'm not sure why anyone would want to).

I got it about 18 months ago, when it was all that would fit. I was going to replace it as 44Ah is a bit low, but I'll wait a bit now.

I'm going to see if one of the dual purpose Supercharge ones fits, but I'll price up an Odyssey too now.

I've used a SC40 in the D3, but have the SC80 in the Defender.

Cheers - I'm off for a couple of weeks from tomorrow, but finishing the D3 is one of the first jobs for the weekend I'm back!

Have you run any cables to the back for a fridge or similar? Or the dask/glove box for UHF, etc.

If so, I must remember to have a look at the cable run next time I make a trip and you're there!

I'm now looking ast the smaller versions of that one....do you know what the RRP was for your one? $154 seems very good value...will be interested to see how they perform compared to the Optima and Exide hybrids...
