isnt' there someone here work for Customs?
I've just had a set of rock sliders land from the US by ship.
What do i need to do?
The freight mob said I need clearance and I should take all the documentation to Fremantle, but that's 700km away!

Hi Jamo
Vlad is the man!!!! He works for them, but QLD.
If you get real stuck,my bro lives close to Freo,I reckon I can talk him into picking them up and droping at a freight company if you can get the paper work to him.
Let me know and I can give him a call.

That would be Vlad.
As for the sidesteps, if they are for your D3 then post up the info as I know of at least one other D3 owning member here that would be very interested.

jamo....your docs should have who did the clearance out of US...ring the local freo office and get them to do the clearance...you should have a copy of Bill of lading, commercial invoice and any packing ISPM15 stamp if timber. Easiest is to get forwarder to do it.
Who did the US clearance....
cheers

I've got a packing list and dock receipt from Global Logistics.
I've also got a LCL Sea Arrival Notice from Mainfreight. They said they couldn't do the clearance for me.
Do I need a broker?? or can I go direct to Customs?
I might try and track down the local Customs dude.

Jamo, you will need to get them customs cleared even though they will most likely be under the $1000 limit and therefore duty and gst free. You could do it yourself if you can get to a customs office and you have all the required paperwork. I'm a customs broker although wont be licensed till next year. At the minimum you need to provide a house bill of lading , a commercial invoice and all the details of how it arrived, did it come via a freight forwarder/ consolidator ? if so they should be able to clear it for you.

nick.

I can assure you that if you can be stuffed around - Customs will find a way of doing it. They are not the most professional organisation around. :o

Thanks guys!
I'll call the Perth mainfreight depot tomorrow and see what they say.
I spoke to a guy in Melbourne and he said I had to go to Customs.
Tony, If I get no joy, I'll call you.
