Hi Folks,
Do any of you have trouble with this thing coming loose off road and losing the retaining plastic screws?
I find it comes loose on most off road outings and just noticed that I'm down to 2 retaining screws.
Is it normal practice to remove this cover before a trip? If so, is there highway noise with it removed?
Cheers,
Mark

There's no noise when it's removed.
The manual actually tells you to remove both front and rear covers when going off road.

What? You think I've read the manual? ;) I'm a bloke, I don't read manuals unless all other avenues are exhausted and the Mrs insists:angel:.

Mate I just leave it off now, can't be bothered. Same thing happened with the screws, I even have a whole bunch of replacement ones. Besides I think it looks better without it. With my rear bar cant use it anyway, so may as well have both hooks ready to rock and roll if required. And yes move before a trip, especially if entering bogholes or the like. The last thing is to be stuffing around undoing the screws,

If your going to take them off, try to do it when they're clean. Any dirt around the lockdowns and some break as you try to turn them.
Their a shirtliffter of an idea, has anybody seen any form of alturnative plugs?

concur on that!! I find it most bloody annoying to have to fiddle with nasty plastic druz type fasteners just so I can plug the trailer in or access those hooks.
And the high qulity platic leaves a lot to be desired as well. Guess the plastic is suppled by the winning tendered so go figure.

Get an ARB front bar and never have the problem again. Also improves front clearance. I used to have the original LR bar and had to physically remove the cover and tear out the clips to get the damn thing off. I just left it off and now have the new ARB bar.
