In queensland we pay depnding on how many cylinders not the type of car

I.E. Four cylinders is cheep, eight ctlinders expensive

I didn't think this was fair when I had my 3.5L rangie as it had less capicity than most six cylinders, I vote rego should be based on capicity not cylinders

I had the same issue with our Stage 1 V8, and a TD5 is based on 6 cylinder rego:mad:

Don't know but at least in SA we can pay it quarterly! (Although I try to avoid this)

Too right - the sneakey buggers bump the rego on five cylinders up to six.

In any case, surely the most logical way to levy rego is on GVM. This is a fairer way of making the cost proportional to the amount of damage a vehicle does to the roads. As far as taxes based on capacity, fuel costs take care of that.

Just checked.

If you want to pay cheaper rego in Qld, just pull 4 ignition leads off.
Hey presto, 4 cylinders!;)
