What can I say? Tuesday October 23 will be a day I'll never forget - wake up, grab some supplies - go under the house and wake up Grover...

Dum de dum - Drop da key right in the slot... ya gunna hear somethin' dats really hot....yeah well - sounds like a truck - pulls like a truck - let's head off to the Border Ranges...

It's good to live in SE Qld - its good to have a new 110!

http://img516.imageshack.us/img516/1189/img1381editvc9.jpg (http://imageshack.us)

One thing is for sure - its second hand now...

http://img206.imageshack.us/img206/3674/img1386editcm6.jpg (http://imageshack.us)

- that's OK with me - I'm justin lovin' it - pulls inclines in 5th @ 2100rpm and 80km/h - no probs.

A fine luncheon was had at the Kyogle Pub - was it the Commercial? Met up with a Mr Freelander - his vehicle's paint job was not up to scratch frankly, but what can you say, without appearing to be judgmental???

http://img81.imageshack.us/img81/1783/img1393edittw1.jpg (http://imageshack.us)

Well anyway - we did the traditional LR lineup

Finally, after noticing 4 punctures on his vehicle, I offered Mr Freelander a lift home.

Yep - Its great to finally have my Defender - we both love it - looking forward to another drive on Saturday.

Hey! Congratulations. You have been one patient man :D

Sounds like it's living up to your expectations.

No word on mine as yet. Am taking the Rangie into the dealer tomorrow to get an oil leak looked at, so should get an update then I hope.

There's nothing like "the smell of a new Defender in the morning".

Well done, and here we were thinking you were in the Valley lockup :D.

I wonder if the new Defer leaks when it rains :o?

I guess you'll be safe in SEQ as it never rains here :(.

I know the answer to that question already......unfortunately.

So the new defender does leak when it rains.

Would have thought Landrover would have sorted that on a new model.

Landrover HQ their still price-less aren't they.:(

It is barely a new model. Not much if any change to the body panels, shut lines, etc.

It is barely a new model. Not much if any change to the body panels, shut lines, etc. They must have changed one thing........but I'm sworn to secrecy.

All I can say is that Scallops is lucky that his Defender must be in the 20%(approx) of unaffected cars.

is that tounge in cheek, or has something more sinister happened?

Frenchie
24th October 2007, 02:08 PM
I like the raised Land Rover badging on the bonnet - might have to get some of those. ;)

The Defender badge on the front has gone.

Rubber flares? Or just black fibreglass?

Maybe it is a guessing game! If we guess the right answer will you tell us? Any hints?

Is he lucky because of some engine related thing?

Quarks
25th October 2007, 06:28 AM
Has it got some sort of 'lucky' VIN that tells stealers to make good service stories out of the defender?

(or is that just a plain contradiction in terms :p)

Lovely pics, Scallops.

Don't think you can. Looks 100% identical to me.

Yep - nothing wrong with my diff.

Just to add a few points now I've driven it a bit - it really is a torque monster. I'm very impressed by the engine. I had it in at Opposite Lock yesterday and was given a 4500 TD Patrol as a loaner - what a difference! The Defender just has heaps more grunt.

The AC works really well too - actually gets too cold.

I also drove it in some very heavy rain - mine doesn't leak. All in all - I'm very happy with it so far...

It's going straight back next Monday. Austral also forgot to fit the factory rattles and squeaks! :D

What;s the problem with the diffs? Is this the 80% problem thing mentioned (but not mentioned) on another thread?

I thought the diffs from the TC back everything was the same?

You must have the economy model. When we bought our 1997 Defender it came with a box labelled rattles and squeaks.

We were told to just keep in anywhere in the vehicle and it will install itself over time (if you believe this you are weird!)
