Not sure if anyone else has noticed the Jump in Rego, mine has gone up from $280 to $377 , the Motor Vehicle Tax Alone is $322.0,would this be because the car is now 10 years old ? or is Gov taxing us more for driving a 4X4.

I have no idea what you are talking about.
Your location would help as each state in Australia has different charges.
What is Motor Vehicle Tax? Don't know about this term in Queensland.

On the Registration Renewal There are 2 components that makes up the total for your Annual Registration fee
Rego Fee = $51.00
Motor Vehicle Tax = $322.00
Has anyone in NSW with a DISCO 97 tdi Noticed a Jump in their Registration Fee?

That's only rego Pedro, not CTP as well.
As you know, it's still better than $491.25 for 12 mths + CTP on top of that!
That figure includes $42.45 for a "Traffic Improvement Fee" - me thinks they are failing to use these funds:D

Yes I agree with that. I see no traffic improvement in South East Queensland at all.
Unless they are putting this into the Gateway Bridge duplication where we will be still paying tolls and not to mention "Mr Can Do" and his tunnelling rats.

Wow, what timing. I have 1997 build, 98 compliance Disco 300tdi and I noticed the exact same thing just yesterday on my rego renewal. So not sure if it's a 10 year thing, because I would say they have 1998 for their records as to age of my Disco. But it's quite a jump in price.

They must've spent it on the lights at the airport roundabout :imwithstupid::bangin:- what inner city, scooter commuting, metrosexual, logic challenged, overpaid beauracratic consultant came up with that idea.
The gateway is a POS in design and the state it's in.
Imagine getting out of an international plane, heading for a motorway - hang there's a roundabout with traffica lights in the middle of it:eek:, then it's a procession of potholes and patches for the next 20ks in both directions - yeah, welcome to the smart state alright :p

If he was still around we'd have an 8 lane highway from Brissy to Cairns by now.
(Of course, there would've been no tender process and the construction and toll would've been 'allocated' to a mate's company - and Russ may have got a new house or two of it)

Thanks Barry, current rate for Vehicles weighting between 1505kg to 2504kg are $373, according to the Table from RTA. As you suggested I may need to contact the RTA to Clarify this ,it certainly looks as though rates have changed from last year.

I am moving back home to QLD with family from Gods toilet (Vic). Can I assume that the supposed good folk of QLD have repeatedly voted for a Govt that increases 97 Disco rego fees?:o and let the road infrastructure go to pot? This is not good.
What have you, my fellow Qld'ers, done whilst I have been away - ruined the place:mad:

Yes it is. Then you have to pay Comulsory Third Party of about $320 (from memory - haven't looked at that bill yet). That's for 12 months too. I think some states include this in their 'rego' fee.

But does this include Victorias Transport Accident Commision Charge (or whatever it is)? I think this is a similar 'insurance' to our CTP in NSW.
So to compare fairly, your $531 should be compared to our $380 (rego renewal) + $320 (CTP) - approx $600 (edit, sorry should be $700). If the driver is under 25, the CTP would be about $500 I think.
If I'm wrong, can someone correct me? But it looks like Victoria and NSW are similar (or within $100 or so of each other).

The CTP (greenslip) varies with where you live as well, and whether you have comprehensive insurance - mine just arrived although the rego renewal hasn't yet - $245.

Wayne Is this figure for Private or Commercial Use ?, as Pete Mention our $377 Rego + $345 CTP Green Slip = $722 (not $600 Mark mentioned by Pete) + Pink Slip on Top which pushes this Figure to around $750 for Private Use does not seem much Better off that Other states.

sorry Pete for correcting your arithmetic
but;
$380 + 320 = $700 ( not $600 )
Plus add Pink Slip because your Vehicles is over 5 years Old would push this Figure up to $730 now to me this does not seems better off than other states , Point
of this whole thread was not to compare Rego Prices in different states, I was Merely trying to find out Why the Rego ONLYin NSW has Jumped by 27%.

Just out of interest, does NSW give an early payment option?
They do in Queensland and it does make a difference in the cost.
Also do you have a choice in Compulsory Third Party Insurance?

No early payment option.
We have a choice of provider for our CTP - NRMA, AAMI and the usual providers all have it. I think the premium tends to be similar for a given set of criteria (age, location etc).

G'day again Barry;
No early payment options here in NSW mate, not that I've heard of anyway !
yes, there is plenty to choose from in terms of insurance companies providing CTP Green Slip, now the quote of $345.0 mentioned earlier is probably one of the cheaper ones around for make/model of the Vehicle, but the figure also depends on wheather or not you've had an AT FAULT CLAIM in the last 3 years with certain insurers.

Errr. ......
I think the $531 is for everything ...I certainly don't pay anything else....
Broken down like this according to the bill :
Registration fee : $172.80
TAC Charge : $326.00
Insurance duty : $32.60
This is for private use ( light vehicle ) not commercial rego.

Some more news on this post...I have now actually looked at my last years rego renewal notice. The price hasn't actually increased that much. I was just going from memory and I 'thought' the price looked high. But it's only $10 higher than I paid last year.
Last Year:
Reg Fee: $50
Motor Vehicle Tax: $313
Total: $363
This year:
Reg Fee: $51
Motor Vehicle Tax: $322
Total: $373
So was your's really only $280-odd last year?

I wonder tho if there is an addional concession if the
