Which models of the S1 had blinkers or did they all?
What lights were fitted to the range of Ones ie parkers, numplate, stop and what they were, are they made new/repro.
Starting with the 56/57 model first. The 51 we will worry about another day.

1. No Series 1 came with blinkers either as standard or an option. They did have semaphore type indicators as an option, but I don't think I have ever seen one with them. Most Series 1s still in use on the road have had some form of blinkers fitted, but these will be a variety of after market ones. In the case of the later Series 1s, suitable ones would be the same as those which were optional on the 2a, although it would be difficult to fit the self cancelling switch - but the same switch could be fitted minus the roller, or one of a variety of similar switches.
2. If you want details I can't help much - the side and tail lights varied through the years. Except for the very early 80" all Series 1s (in Australia at least) had the seven inch Lucas semi-sealed headlights similar to the ones fitted to contemporary Holdens but without the parking light bulb.
Numberplate lights were, I believe, special to Australia as was the number plate holder, and were the same right through to the end of Series production.
Can't help with the availability, although I think the headlights are pretty easy to find. (I found a new one at a swap meet when I wanted it.)

North American specification vehicles (also known as North American Dollar Area NADA) were different to the ones we had out here. NADA spec vehicles had both flashing indicators and a number plate frame attached to the tailgate (identical design to those found on the series 2/2a models).
The awkward part of the NADA design for the flashers is that they flash the stop light and the front parking light. This requires a special device and wiring in the lighting circuit at the rear and for the front lights. The globes also need to be dual contact for the system to work. The wiring diagram is in the 1948 - 58 Workshop manual
John is correct the 80" models and the later series 1's in Australia had an option of semaphore arms for turn signals. Many of the restored 80" models have them and all the British Army 80" had them fited.

If you want to find lighting bits for early Land Rover's in Australia, try Anthony Pearson of Classic and Vintage Bulbs in Adelaide. He carries lots of NOS and reproduction Lucas parts (as well as halogen replacement bulbs for original British Pre-focus headlamps.
