Hi everyone,

thought I'd better tell you about my latest project that I've been busy with over the last few months, although Rosy has done virtually all of the work herself!!

My first born came into this world on Friday 19th October at 19:25. Abby Jane weighed 6lbs 6oz and both mother and daughter are doing great! They both came home the next day and the house was in total disarray for 6 days until we got ourselves and the house sorted. We thought we had the place ready, but we were wrong!

We were planning our trip for next year but this has been delayed for at least a year or two until we think Abby is ready to travel.

Obviously Abby has changed the design of Bluey slightly - the sexy cubby box I'd ordered had to be cancelled and changed for some extra storage boxes in the back but thats about it.

Rosy and I are still going to do the trip to Oz, the only thing that could possibly stop our plans would be another bairn! Two kids would be difficult to fit in a three door 110!

Rosy says another bairn is definitely on the cards (which suits me) but we would like that one to be born in Oz. We think watching the rugby, cricket etc. would be fun with father and daughter born in England and mother and other kid born in Oz! Should be a laugh although I'm keen to become an Austalian citizen ASAP so I can support a national team which wins more often than not!!!!

Rosy would like me to stay English so that our kids can easily get into England to visit my family. Unfortunately Rosy only has her brother and sister now so would like our kids to be able to get to England to see the family - I still have grandparents to spoil the bairns!

Anyway Blueys rebuild is still going although the schedule has gone straight out the window. I've finished the rolling chassis and am now on the laborious process of painting it.

Anyway hopefully the pictures will do Abby justice!!

So is your plan to drive to Australia from the UK with your 2 or 3 year old.... in your 110? (that is what I inferred from all of that!).

That's an excellent drive. Via Africa or Pakistan/India?

By the time you get here you'll be pretty sick of Thomas the Tank Engine and Wiggles CDs. I got sick of them just driving to Melbourne!

errr yes - does that sound so bad!! We're going via Pakistan/India then possibly onto Thailand to Singapore if the money holds out!!

Also we were thinking more of Motorhead than Thomas the Tank Engine!!

Andy and Rosy and Abby now!!

No - sounds fantastic. I am planning something similar in a few years when the kids have all left school, but I'd be thinking via Africa. My 130 is in pieces slowly being built but I can never get enough time to get properly stuck into it.

You're a very brave man Andy.

Travelling with the billys is more of an issue than driving from blighty to Aussie :D;)

A 3 door 110 is probably a good thing to do it in,
you can install a solid divider between the driving department and the kid area.:twisted::twisted:

'Are we there yet?'

'Almost, only another 11,000 miles to go...'

Look forward to your escapadic reports.;)

Don't be put off by travelling with kids, ours have been doing the 600Km trip to their grandparents regularly since both of them were 6 weeks of age. You do need to think of things like how to warm bottles on the road and take breaks when they wake up to let them run around a little but provided you get them used to long trips early it's easy to do. Congratulations on a beautiful bub, love the Motorhead tee shirt.

Travelling with kids is definitely possible.

We met an Australian dentist in Morocco MILES from anywhere at a small oasis, who was travelling with his wife and FOUR children. The youngest was still in nappies.

They had a converted Bedford van, so it must have been pretty squishy in there. I remember thinking nappies ... 40 degree heat .... phew! Rather them than me :D

You can become a naturalised Aussie and still have a UK passport as well as Aussie.
Your wife gets an entry in her Aus passport which gives her the same UK entry and occupation rights as you. Your kids can all have dual passports too
