its a great motivator...
Some of us Aj's /Raffies/ Mechanics have a simple theory that to win any war all the ADF bosses have to do is line up all the greasers/ wreckie mechs, termites, engineers, gunners, drivers, cooks and grunters let them sit around for 20 minutes then fly a C130 over head streaming a XXXX and VB banner then airdrop a couple of frosted pallets out of it somewhere behind the enemy upwind of the troops and then send in a nother one with the Webber streamer and ditto a couple of smoking BBQs and let the scent of icey aluminum and burnt meat and onions waft....
And you thought that when they got underthe guns on horsback in the light horsemen was a quick and decisive manouver...

According to a respected historian, this suggestion was made seriously made by a British staff officer in 1918.
The Germans were retreating from the Hindenburg Line and were moving into the great French cloth city of Lille. Now the Germans had held Lille since 1914 an the city was almost undamaged. The French expressed a desire to get the city back undamaged which would not happen if the usual Western Front tactics of reducing the defenses to rubble with artillery were employed. A British staff officer suggested that as the Australian Fourth Division (generally regarded as the wild men of the AIF) was nearby, then they should be given 10 days leave, advanced 10 days pay and told Lille was strictly out of bounds. He reckoned that within 2-3 days Lille would be full of drunk Australians and the Germans would have better sense than to stay.

Beer and more beer, thanks. I was up until recently punching through a case of Boags Draft in a week. Since quitting the smokes, I also reduced to just drinking on weekends....starting Fridays :). Part of that has been trying all sorts of boutique and import beers......and I'm loving it :D

I am a bourbon drinker, some beer (Coopers Pale, Heineken, Han Light are preferences) and occassionaly a good red wine. Will drink most beers if limited except XXXX, Southwark and Emu Export. Also like good real Vodka, not the garbage in most bottles, Tequila and assorted liquer sometimes.

CocaCola :(
Doctor tells me to drink beer its healthier than Coke.
I have drunk 1/4 a bottle of Johny Walker in 2 years and thats it. I get drunk taking a swig of cough medicine.
On the other hand its great you get picked as best man often, and some of the girls like it as they know your not gonna get drunk on them.
But boy oh boy do I cop it from the guys at work - I try and make up for it with other blokey things like Range Rovers, large power tools, big shed full of crap etc.
I have the beer gut tho - embarrassing as people who don't know me well give me grog for doing work/presents.

I used to mainly drink beer until 3 years ago.
Now I can only drink one stubbie, then feel bloated and ill. Used to love VB. Only one I can swallow now is Crown Lager.
Mind you, I really enjoy, wine red and white, plus the odd nip of port

I love beer but it has to be decent stuff: Coopers, James Squires, and here in the West Little Creatures. Love a Euro-beer, Stella, Heinie, Nastro on a hot day. Love a Guinness. Love beer but I really can't be bothered with regular stuff*
* I lie, I once had some XXXX Gold. It was on a cattle station up in the Territory after a day (dawn til dark) in the yards drafting, innoculating and speying. It was like nectar.

Queenslander through and through - XXXX, XXXX Gold, or Bundy Rum :twobeers::BigThumb:
Mind you, I'll drink pretty much any beer (with the possible exception of Fosters, :banban:).
I've also been frequenting a couple of establishments up here that basically make home brew, but do it on their own premises - "Brew by You" at Browns Plains, and "Brews Brothers" at Wooloongabba. They make copies of virtually any beer you can name - we usually get "Mexicana", which is a damn good substitute for Corona at less than half the price (works out about $22 a carton). Great stuff! :)

I drink beer but lately, while not meant to be drinking at all I have found that Bourbon and Coke seems to give me less problems with my heart than Beer or Wine, Wine is really bad at the moment.
I can have just a few beers as well as it kinda bloats me and stops me drinking too much but on the mixers I really have to control myself or else I will just keep drinking until I fall over which is not good at the moment.

Any beer, especially free:D:D:D:D
......pending how rich I am at the time. Like any of the premium types as long as it's locally made (I can't
see the point in buying imported stuff, overpriced and overrated)
VB (venerial bitter) sucks so does XXXX Gold although I used to drink it frequently because it was cheap (XXXX bitter isn't too bad).

Yes, I've had somewhere close to that and had no true hangover; a bit slow to get moving and a bit dry (which I can live with on a Sunday) but no thumping headache (which I can't). I've woken after 1/2 dozen of other brands and thought I was going to have a stroke.
But there is still a small chance I could be wrong, so best to experiment with large amounts of various beers.

Beer:
"Beer is proof that God loves us and wants us to be happy"
Ben 'jamin' Franklin
Couple years back I worked from 6AM till about 4 PM ran home grabbed my bags got on a Plane to LA at 6PM waited an hour and hopped a flight to Sydney, touched down in the early morning (two days later !?!?!) Hopped on a RA flight to hop our way over to Broken Hill.. My Mate Norman picked me up at the airfield about noon looking well rested and happy to see me, I hadn't slept a wink.. 1st thing he said "'Reckon you be needin' a beer?" my response "sure" the subsequent pub event lasted till about 9PM.
Yep I like beer! Got a good bunch of them over there I'll say. I was particularly fond of Toohey's Old but I'm a dark beer drinker. Well unless there isn't any then I'll drink most beers..
Love beer..
