1) Drop the sway bar,(If you have one)
2) have lots of patience.
3) undoing it is the easy bit, one LH long bolt up to the block at rear requires exhaust engine pipe to be 'levered' to the left in order to get the socket and bar past though.
4)have lots of patience
5) refitting is a pain, the rear of the gasket 'locates' into 2 holes at the rear of the block, and these are especially difficult to position. I have had to fit the two rear centre vertical bolts through the gasket while balancing the sump etc in order to locate them in the past.

6) that was the patience that you had to have lots of for.

Enjoy.:D

keep the bolts in order as you pull them out as some are longer than others

Let the oil drain from the block for as long as you can as it helps reduce the dripping that gets all over everything.

Experience speaks :o:):D?

happened today, someone (not a mechanic) was servicing an auto used a jacking rig that we have specially bodgied up to telescope up into sumps and the like to hold them in place while you unbolt or bolt them up.....

undid all the bolts, hit the drop button on the jig and held onto one part of the sump.....

Tx oil everywhere.........

"didnt you check the oil before you pulled it"

We deduced that it was time to change the oil as when we finished the mop up we found the following was in the oil.

lots of dirt and leaves, 30ish asorted washers, 12 various bolts, 2 olive seals, a handfull or o rings, some rubber debry, some missing teeth, the crown wheel the teeth came off of, a grease nipple and some syncro rings.

As said by Justin drop off the rod if you want to take it right out.
I just sat the sump on the diff, checked and loctited bolt in situ, cleaned sump and crank area, new sump gasket and gasket goo and straight back on.
