Sorry if this has already been posted.
I see the "talking heads" show on ABC will feature Les next week. What a legend!
6:30 Monday night from memory but "check your local guides"

He really was an odd bod :)
I have met the man a few times, he is a rather shy type and did not really fit into the Army life style.
I think the best thing he ever did was to run ADF basic survival courses, then be picked up by the media.
Les is a really nice guy :)

Hi All
Remember servicing Les's land rover about 95 or 96, did a good job the boss told me to wash it well which I did.
Les came out and thanked me for doing such a good job but he was filming down in the desert country and had come in because the vehicle needed servicing but for filming purposes the car was out of character and makeup :D
He asked us if we could do anything about and I said no worries give me ten minutes so I took it down to the katherine river and went down one of tracks close by that I knew had deep bulldust so I delicately manouvered the defender down the track at a great rate of knots and then turned around and came back at the same speed through the bulldust and dust and gave it back to Les covered in dust - hopefully just how he wanted it
Never had a drink with him but heard he hated a cold beer on a hot day
Regards Mark

I've got 5 or 6 videos of the original Bush Tucker Man series from the ABC, but now I don't have a VCR so can't watch them :(. Guess they are pretty much obsolete these days.

rumor control has it there was an event involving les taking a group of tourists through a field environment as part of an open day and the tour went along the lines of
and thats a tank track, thats a tree, thats a (insert a couple of long technical names for edible flora and fauna here) thats an SAS patrol failing cam and concealment.........
and with a different group it was the same thing but it ended with...
and thats the same SAS patrol I was pointing out to the earlier group failing cam and concealment, again.
Ive heard the story a few different times in slightly different variations but having met the man in passing once and eavesdropping on him for the short time I could I got that awe inspiring feeling that maybe it wasnt just rumour control.
