G/day all, #1 daughter has Disco Tdi 96. Ign lock is just about U/S, key has to be withdrawn a tad after inserting to get things under way, veh is for sale so problem has to be fixed. Q. Can the barrel & key be replaced?? if so how??? I`ve looked & poked from every angel... Zip. If job is do-able where can I source the bits & pieces Orrrrrr is it a job for a locksmith. Many thanks Tommy.

I would say its doable , I know with holdens you can buy a repair kit that has all the tumblers , you just take it to your locksmith and they rebuild it for you , even a mobile locksmith should be able to do it for you :D

Same with a Rangie we had. A good locksmith can rebuild one of that vintage.

Ohh the innuendo:D:D:D
A locksmith or dealer can help you there. I had the same problem and went the locksmith route.

Totally agree. I have had mine rebuilt in the past, think only $50-60 if you remove the lock yourself which is easy.
What is your location, know of a guy in melbourne that does it.
Matt.

Its not worn out until you pull the key out and the barrel comes with it, and all the pins and springs fly everywhere.
At 5am in the dark carpark at work its no fun :eek::twisted:
At least I had a few hours to find the bits and put it all back together :):)
