Gday Guys
Well I am just about to pull my hair out.I have been searchin the web for about an hour now and just cant find what i am looking for. Can some one please help out?????????? I have just purchased a Pioneer 6950ib, Boss 1200 watt amp, JBL = 2 X 210 watt 2 x crosovers 2 x tweeters and a bazooker sub. (I know the amp is a bit of an over kill but bigger speakers soon). What I am chasing is a wiring diagram for the complete set up. Can some 1 steer me in the right direction?:):D

Ps If you can dumb it down as best as possible that would be great.

Thanks
Bazz

for best results.....your are better off running one amp for the speakers......and a separate one for the subs.......

unless you are running an active crossover.......

from the head unit.....use rca leads to the amp......these bypass the internal amp in the head unit......
and give a much cleaner sound by allowing the amp to do all the work......

otherwise.......use the amp for the sub......your head unit may have a separate output for a sub......
and run the speakers off the unit itself.....using the amplified speaker outputs on the back of the head unit......

ok...i just had another look....its only a 2 channel amp.....even better.......use it for the sub.....if you only have one sub......
bridge the amp for more power and run the sub off that......

as for the crossovers......a picture to show what type you have will be handy.......
but they are usually connected in parallel with the tweeter......

as for a wiring diagram.......i need to see whats what with the gear you have......what colour wires there are......how many terminals etc.......

the amp should have rca inputs.....and may also have hi-power inputs.....

it will have the following terminals as well.....

B+ = battery positive....makes sure you have a fused feed for safety.....
B- = battery negative terminal or chassis earth......
R+ = remote switch....this turns the amp on and off either via the head units or via ignition......

then there will be the 2 speaker outlets.....
L+ .......
L- ........

R+ ........
R- ........

if the amp is bridgeable......it will show you which two terminals to use in bridged mode.......

Sorry it is a 4 channel amp. The real problem I have is with the tweeters and how they are set up I know that I have to set them up in parrallel but I am unsure as to how, if there is a diagram that I can look at that would be great. I am also not sure how far to place them from the main speakers. I have basically set up all the wiring in place but the crossovers and tweeters has me stuffed. I have not had anything to do with them. If you know anything about bridging that would be handy. I have seen it written and talked about it but never seen how to do it.

Any extra help would be good.:D

thanks

ok...the tweeters are best placed somewhere near the head area......such as on the dash or "A" pillar......and pointed towards the ears.......

the mids can be placed wherever you find space......such as door trims...speaker pods....roof consoles etc.......
but best results are achieved when pointed towards the listeners ears......obviously.....

as for bridging the amp....it should simply have a switch on it for bridging......unless its not meant to be bridged.....

as for the crossovers......i need to see them....there are different types for different things.....

can you post a pic of them...?

As Defenderzook mentioned we would need to know how the crossovers are set up. For example the most common crossover will consist of a +ve and -ve input from the amp. Then provide a + and - for the main driver and another for the tweeter as the purpose of the crossover is to separate frequencies for each driver.

An amp doesnt need to have a bridging switch on it to be bridged. Some 2 channel amps will be bridged by using the + from one of the channels and the -ve from the other. Though I strongly suggest you consult your manual as some behave differently. Also the setup of the sub will influence how you want to wire it up. For example is it just a single voice coil? double? 2ohm or 4ohm?

Some peoply find having tweeters to close to their heads can get a bit irrating. I suggest you use double sided tape on the tweeters and just try them in different locations until you are happy with the sound. Ideally different drivers (speakers) should be located close together for imaging and staging, but i dont think this is neccessary here :).

Gday Guys
I hope this sheds some light onto the subject. You would think that instructions where in the box or on the box, but no luck there. Any way pics to help out.

The crossovers read from left to right.

TW WF IN
- + - + - +
Taking a closer look and bit of more of a think about it may be a bit simpler than I thought.

TW = Tweeter ?
WF = ????
IN = speaker wire in from amp

I did say I needed to dumb things down, I dont want to stuff anything up.

bloody tweeters!

even after 12 months I still get caught out hearing "funny noises"

only to find if I hit pause---
the funny noise mysteriously vanishes!!:D:D

Hey Bazz WF will just stand for woofer, otherwise known as your speaker. So your input from your amp/or deck will go into IN. Then respectable out to the various components. You will just have to make sure you get the + and - wires correctly which should be obvious as you are setting it all up.

Thanks Guys
Coming together now, I hope I get it right in the end. what I was going to do in the end is to hook up what I know and then take it to the local Hi Fi mob and get them to finish off and do the correct settings for the amp. Any way cheers for the help.

Ps I did put this in the wrong section, I'll get it right next time

Thanks
