An old bloke was murdered for watering his lawn in Sydney - what a sad world it's becoming.
A 36-year-old man has been charged with murder, after allegedly killing a man during a fight over water restrictions, in Sydney's south yesterday.
The 66-year-old was watering the front lawn of his house at Sylvania around 5:00pm AEDT yesterday, one of the two days a week when hand-held hosing of lawns and gardens is allowed.
Bloody so-called do-gooder !!!
Police say a man walking past the house made a comment about water usage and water restrictions, and was subsequently sprayed with the hose.
So called do-gooder - meet Mr Cantankerous 'mind your own bloody business' 66yo.
Police allege the younger man then punched and pushed the older man to the ground, as well as kicking him.
It was his upbringing, he had a sad deprived childhood poor fella, its not really his fault....
An off-duty officer in the area at the time called police, and detained the 36-year-old, who was then taken to Miranda Police Station and questioned.
The older man was treated by ambulance officers at the scene, and taken to St George Hospital in a critical condition, but died soon after.
What on earth is the problem with people these days. So much uncontrolled rage !!!

You have to wonder how someone like that got to 36 years old before getting into that sort of trouble. Then again, maybe he was on day release. Come to think of it he may have killed before and been a free man for 10 or more years.:angrylock:.
I water my garden as I have tank water. I have had some dirty looks but point to the A4 sign we have. One person in a Nissan 4wd called me a Wally, but look what they were driving:tease:.

He shouldnt be released for such a stupid thing.
I believe all people know what they are doing, and why they are doing it. They shouldnt let him off.

It's a stupid world. Too many people think they have the ability to control all. That's my main gripe with the education and training system - no more team players but all are moulded to be individuals with the 'I'm boss of all' attitude.
We were abused in February last year when we were landscaping our new church property. We were allowed to water for one hour per day during the 14 day establishment period as we had a professional landscaper supervising the project.
People would do a u-turn and swear abuse at the women and blokes on the roster. Obviously these less desirable drivers were not interested in, or maybe could not, research the regulations.
At least in the case in question the cops got the bloke very quickly so if he is guilty he needs to removed from society and have his privileges as a community member revoked for a long time.

Bloody terrible isn't it. That scumbag POs must think he's real tough belting the crap out of an old bloke. The bloke should eb shot along with ll the do-gooders that let him loose in the first place.
Re- water restrictions. Being in my trade, I need to use the hose full stop to clean out tools because plastering materials are chemically set (some are) and it's near impossible to clean them by hand or with a brush so we have a trigger hose and use that so I consider that more of a water saving than buggering about with buckets.
I've had a couple of people whinge but we don't have too many issues. I usually tell them where to go anyway, people should stop being busy-bodies and MYOFB :mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:

That is really sad, confirms my belief this world is half full of morons.
I would be annoyed if someone squirted me with a hose but would not belt them. Prior to that this clown should have found out the facts first.
We do get that being on bore, but people need to determine wether we are using schem or bore water first before commenting.:(

I found that story unbelievable!
Yeah, so the older guy hosed the younger one, is that really an excuse to beat him to death?
What has our society turned into?

the guy that died had a heart attack as a result of being punched then laid in when on the ground while i was fairly wild come time ago (not that i would have givin two ****s about the water) and prob would have givin someone who hosed me a smack in the mouth (circumstances pending) laying into anyone letalone someone twice your age is discgracefull

This is the way the world is going unfortunately, I often considered what would happen if we were to endure an extended drought and it got to the stage where country towns ran dry , city reseviors got to the stage where the levels were critical and with millions of people to cater for among other things where would the water come from? would we endure more of these sorts of attacks with people going crazy for water?
We have managed to really stuff this planet we live on.

Hi All
Just watching this from Adelaide River NT and wondering what the hell is going on down there.
I guess that this all happened overnight ;)and the state governments have rushed in huge public works programs to make new dams to help supply the burgeoning population.
I guess I shouldn't whinge about paying for water cause at least we have water there and we can wash cars have sprinklers on and do whatever we want with the water as long as we pay for it
I hope that the drought ends soon but I wonder how much is drought and how much is lack of infrastructure?

I have lived up North and seeing the waste from the Ord river scheme would solve all our problems but how do u get the water down south?, the powers that be have had plenty of years to do something about this, they can spend money on silly things but not real issues, people cant say doesnt matter just drink beer, you still need water to make beer.

That lake is just amazing :D
I love it, one of the largest in land water masses in the world.
The cost to move the water south, would be horrendous. Evaporation would take a large slice as well.
In all honesty, I think the only way to go is desalination. You don't run out of sea water, it is supposedly rising so use it :D
New Dams are a stupid idea, what water and when?
For all of you who live outside Queensland, you are lucky ;)
We have a state government that would struggle with a chook raffle

Can't remember the exact figure but takes about 1.5 litres of water to produce 1 litre of beer and I guess would take the same to produce 1 litre of bottled water
gotta wash the pipes and filtration gear with caustic, then flush etc etc etc...

Every house should have a rainwater tank,if you cant manage living day to day with tank water you have bigger issues in life. :D

Ever seen the gunge that comes off a Brisbane roof.
I would not like to drink that.
And I don't think I could fit a tank large enough on our property to do us.
I grew up on a farm so I know how to manage water but suburban lifestyle dictates higher water use. e.g. on the farm we did not have to look spruced up all the time as visitors were few so our clothes were not washed as often.

Filters are pretty good thse days. I certainly wouldn't want to drink it straight out of the tank.

I hope they relese the scums name so he can be shamed for the rest of his life.
Wat a poor excuse for a man. I hope he struggles for the remaining years of his life.
I also think about how this guy may react towards family members (maybe beats his wife etc etc, if he even has one)... just down right rude and pathetic...

Combination of drought and not so much lack of infrastructure, but failure to increase infrastructure in line with the increasing population - the basic problem, as with almost all our serious problems, is too many people.
There is a limit to the number of new dams that can be built, and building up to that limit is probably not a good idea anyway, but refurbishing or replacing a lot of the infrastructure downstream from the dams would mean a lot lower water usage in many case - there are a lot of leaks!

As a lot of other people feel - this morning all over Sydney there was a couple of hours of steady rain. I gathered about 1,000 litres from less than half of my roofs the rest went to the storm water and out to the Cooks River.
This happens regularly along the coastal strip east of the escarpment to the south and the Blue Mountains to the west and hardly a drop is caught for anything except the occasional garden and car washing.
Why is the Government even thinking of recycling sewerage or desalination when we are doing nothing with the coastal storm-water, not even watering parks.
They excavated a huge cavern under Port Botany to store LPG, yet they can't do the same to collect and recycle storm-water?

There's a lot more money in the LPG business, and pollies love their big business mates, as that's where they go when they've been given the push by the people.
EG: Andrew Peacock is now 'President' of Boeing Australia...
Commissioning a desal plant is a huge job, govt (taxpayers) pay, and those who do the commissioning look at govt 'commissioners' very favourably:wasntme:
