In the local paper (West Australian) on Tuesday:
........"Toyota calls a RAV sales halt"
"Toyota has again been hit by an embarrasing fault in a new model, with all Australian dealers being ordered to stop selling the new V6-powered RAV 4 compact four-wheel- drive vehicle.
The problem comes after the Japanese group's executive vice president, Mitsuo Kino****a, admitted in Tokyo last week that the company's response to vehicle quality problems "was not perfect".
Details of the exact failure were not abvailable last night, but a Toyota spokesman said it was a driveability hitch, not a safety issue.
The RAV4 sales freeze comes only a month after Toyota Australia was forced to halt sales of its locally developed supercharged V6 Aurion TRD sedan after the engine in one of the early models failed"

I know it's a Land Rover forum, but I didn't realise we treat the names of Toyota staff as swear words.

Nothing
Land Rover Australia will claim an increase in the cost of shipping because of the cost of crude oil and we will pay the same for the 2007 Defender because it is a new model.
The result is that LR Au will make more profit.

Pretty much it. Especially as the GBP hasn't really dropped against the AU$ that much, compared tot he US$. Although saying that with the strong GBP (US$2) the increase in the rate of crude probably won't have affected things that much.

Judgeing from my experiences with my mates Hilux.
I'd say the main problem is the manufacturing process.
They just don't make em good enough.
