I took a study break and watched it to, lots of good coverage, it is a pity that they only covered the two main classes though.

Discokid on this site had a bit of footage - the car looked awesome.

Looks like a great event - and as said fantastic scenery.

Ben Grabham got it for the moto and Hederics/Williams for the auto.It looks like the smaller fourstrokes are the way to go hey.I think there was about 4 450 fourstrokers in the top 5.

The TV show was good but I wasnt sure if they were promoting a holiday in WA or racing!

It brought back a lot of memories of good times had on the safari

I just need to work out what we are doing next year and whether we are going or not

So many good races not enough time or money

and if you spend the time you'll never have the money anyway:D

That is the problem

6 state events - Long course
1 Safari
4 or 5 short course

Then there are the nationals etc

For me its either 1 Safari and nothing else or do the state rounds next year.

FWIW,, It seems to me there are a lot more safari cars doing the nationals,,

whether that means they've just discovered they're eligable or found more money, or realised there are kudos to being an Australian Champion.

once you start doing the nationals its really hard to stop though:angel:

We always do Hyden and have been to the Pines in the past

Problem for us is the national rounds are 3- 4000kms away and the safari is in our backyard. All be it that the backyard extends about 3000kms anyway

In class 8 Colin Hunter has it sewn up. Its a brilliant car and a brilliant team, very hard to beat

Hi there Discokid, nice 110,

About 20 of us from the LROCWA manned some road closures out past Mundaring at last years event and made a good camping weekend out of it . 99% sure we'll be back for more. Got a few pics of the Freelander and 110's on my corner, I'll try and find them.

Cheers - Will

Hi Guys

The regs are out for the Aust Safari. Just wondering if anybody is competing from here. We are certainly going again waving the landrover flag (all be it with a chevy heart)

We are quite excited by this years event and some small improvements to suspension and some yet untested HP increase should see us having a good time

Selective/ competitive kms to be about 3000km this year!!!

love to hear from any potential competitors

Hah, just an idea, why can't a group of us set up our own little safari type contest? "The AULRO bush bashing race?" Surely it can't be that hard? Anyone interested if I look into it? Jot down some ideas, pros & cons etc, & let's see what we can come up with?

First and foremost, we would need a property to use (obviously we would have to pay a fee) and insurance, which I'm sure all competitors could contribute to. What do you reckon? Could be a blast!!!!!

Send me your thoughts.

I am not but looking to do it in a couple of years in my brothers TMC landy racer

But you might like to know that Drew Bowler was very interested in it and has been looking at doing it in the Nemisis
After all there is alot of boyed up racer trucks in Europe all ready to play but no where to go after the Dakar was cancelled

I just spoke to my dyno man

296hp at all 4wheels at 6000rpm:eek: ( Stock redline is 6200 and should be able to go nearly to 7 with this set up) and thats with 33in tyres and 4.11 gears

He reckons for a gen 3 which dont have a lot of torque the new torque curve is amazing comes in from 2500rpm and is well over factory torque and flattens of at the top end

Basically
4in cold air intake
Cam
Heads
40lb injectors
twin bosch 040 fuel pumps
1/2 fuel line
double row timing chain etc
mods to oil pump
re tune mafless etc and many hrs on the dyno
Already had some mods before as well

Still more work to come on the dyno

All info is here

Off Road Oz - Off Road Events (http://www.offroadoz.net.au/Events/events.php)

There were about 10 4wd type vehicles racing at Hyden

I wont be doing any more state rounds this year but others will

There is another defender racing number 888 but Im not sure what he is doing this year

The closest is Mogumber in August. which tends to be a very muddy race so good to watch

Check out some of the photos on the site as well gives you a good idea of what happens at each event
Cheers
