Any ideas? The "overheating" auto box light comes on very quickly when accellerating hard or doing off road work. At higher speeds it goes off, after some air has blown through.
I've checked the cooler and it's clean, I've also done the slip test outlined in RAVE and it passes.
I have drained the fluid and flushed about 10 liters of dexron 3 through the system by disconnecting the return line from the cooler. I've also changed the filter.

What next? Faulty sensor? Anyone had this occur?

Gearbox is "touchable" temp wise, although I've not checked the temp - Would one of those infra red thermometers be any good, just pointed at the sump?

Help!

Dave

if you can touch it for more than a second, even given the lowest stated "overheated" temp that I've seen of 100 deg c then its not over heated. one of those lazer thermometers aimed at the front end of the sump when the overheat light is on will give you a near enough indication as to the problem being a sensor or atual over heating

I'll try to get hold of a thermo then and give it a test. If it fails I'll replace the sender, depending on price! It's always come on a little easily imho, but it does get a bit of a thrashing at times.
Well I've had every other problem, so I hope it's the sender! Otherwise it sounds expensive. Next will be the oil pump sprocket falling off I guess!

Thanks!

Any other opinions guys?

Dave.
