and its only warm for a minute or so before its cold again.
the engine is warm it is a 96 disco tdi .
also what is the button slightly left to the aircond switch?
I have only just bought it so dont know much about it .
thanks Ralph.

Hi There
The button to the left of the AC is for air recirculation. As for no hot air, maybe a blocked heater? or no water in the radiator. :o
Don't worry you won't need it for a few months! :D
Good luck with it.

also what is the button slightly left to the aircond switch?
this is the recirculate/fresh air button it switches the air intake from outside to inside .
and the heater should work with it in either position as it is the same as mine!:D

also have you checked under the bonnet to see if it has been bypassed!

I have checked to see if it has been bypassed and is it not bypassed .
when switching the control should it make any noise e.g. like a vacume noise or are they mechanical or vacume ?
Why is there 2 switches or dials you turn for the heater?

both heater controls are cable operated,
the reason there is two of them is that you can adjust the temperature on both drivers and passenger side.
so if the wife thinks the heater is too hot she can adjust her side without affecting your comfort!:D

It may be that the flaps aren't opening all the way when you rotate the heater controls. The cable that operates them can be adjusted by changing the position of the clamp on the outer cable.
The diagram below shows the clamp (labelled '8'). This image is the view under the steering column with the fuse access panel open.
Check the driver's side first as it is the easiest to get to. The passenger side one is in a similar location, but you have to remove the glove box to access it.
