That’s right... Royal Crown Revue, the founding fathers of the retro swing movement, are headed back to their favourite stomping ground for the eighth time in the last decade.

Royal Crown Revue has pioneered a totally unique sound and style, serving as the blueprint for an entire generation of musicians and music lovers. This band was and is the spearheading force behind the "retro style" that has exploded from underground scene into bona fide cultural phenomenon.

Depends on if you're into jazz and swing really... probably heard there music in movies though without realising though.

The band and music was featured in The Mask (Jim Carrey movie), and was the inspiration to the movie Swingers, and has music in the movie Cat in the Hat and Somethings Gotta Give (taken from there song name). Also the horn section of RCR have recently finished touring with Bette Midler in her Kiss My Brass tour.

All i can say is if you like that style of music, they put on a ripper of a show and basically tour throughout the US and world constantly.

I can't wait :D

Love this kind of music but unfortuanelty can't make the show.....have my feet tapping to some of those clips though.

Must confess, never heard of them before but LOVE the film Swingers....got it on DVD if anyone wants to borrow it, great movie!!

Went to book tickets last night but as it is a standing room only show I didn't as my wife is too short to see anything.

never been there as a venue so not sure what to expect but going regardless :D

the venue has a raised stage and a two tear floor.
also has an upstairs bar and veiwing area.

There is no seating as such for the shows i have been there for.

Actually not so much worried about my wife not seeing as a raised stage would fix that but neither of us are that keen to stand especially when neither of us really know the band, although the clips posted looked great.

Josh, don't know how you are feeling since your op but if you call them beforehand and explain your situation I am sure they could organise a couple of bar stools in a corner for you. They seemed friendly when I rang them.

But then they are probably one of those bands where your hips won't let you stay seated, they may insist on getting up and swingin' about.

Should be great, have a good time.

A few of the guys swap around instruments so usually a couple trombones going.

BTW Brian Setzer uses an orchestra from memory doesn't he so be disappointing if he didn't :p unless you're talking Stray Cats in which case no trombone in sight :D:D:D
