For those of you conversant with the Why do I bother (http://www.aulro.com/afvb/showthread.php't=45532) thread.. Here's my answer.

https://www.aulro.com/afvb/images/imported/2007/12/433.jpg

thats a pair of polycarbonate lensed multivolt LED type lights one white one amber Advertised as practically unbreakable. Well I can vouch for that Ive seen the rounder of the 2 survive having a bush master roll over onto it.

But practically unbreakable... well the titanic was practically unsinkable and we all know that that just didnt cut the mustard. So giving murphy the finger I went and made up a couple of lightweight protection plates for my "practically unbreakable" and bolted them in place.

4 manhours later Im ready to park the car with confidence again. Anyone who manages to break them puppies is going to be doing enough damage to imobilise themselves or leave me with bigger headaches.

I was a bit miffed when i got them the flat one was ment to be the amber for the indicator and the rounder one was ment to be white for the markers.

Went back to give it the whole umm guys what the deal and Theve offered me a different set of lights at cost price when they can get stock. Apparently with all the rain weve been having a lot of truckers have switched from the normal type lights to the new water proof (to 15m hope big reds bumpers never in that deep) led lights.

I would have just mounted some pressure switches to the bullbar corners, rigged up to a rocket launcher bolted to the chassis rail:D.

Is it illegal to have small clearance markers in blue? must they be white/red?

White to the front, amber to the side and red to the rear. Blue reserved for emergency vehicles, purple, green etc for various other mobs.

Ipswich truck parts supplied the goods and the lights are ADR complient for the job Im using them for. (checked that)

BUT

There are a better set of lights for the job that I'll be getting sorted when the money cleans up around here

Those lights can be had from the navra website as can the ones I want to replace them with. The next version will see the support bar for the lights rubber mounted

The from the hip version of the ADR's are

Its illegal for you to show any colour other than white for markers (the blueish tinge of a white LED light has been deemed acceptable) and orange for indicators/clearance lights to the front unless you are a special purpose vehicle (ambo/firey/copper) And to the rear you may only show Red for brakes, tail and width markers or orange for indicators. White may be shown to the rear but only as a reversing light and it must have an interlocking switch on the gearboxs reverse gear selection mechanism. Reflection of white light from the numberplate is acceptable BUT the throw of the number plate light must not be directly observable from the rear of the vehicle.

yep its finally happend after waiting bloody ages and testing them against planets and roos They been certified as mobile crumple zone safe.

IT happened yesterday in a coles car park... aparrently I was in the wrong...

I was idling through the carpark as per the attached sketch following the arrows as opposed to driving over the islands small children other cars cyclists and shoppers as Im sure the owner of the toymota MCZ thinks I should have been judging by how she was driving... anyhooo
8445
shes coming in from my right front and with no where near enough space to make the move crosses over into my lane over a solid white line to make the turn into the lanes of carparks on my left hand side of course Ive hit the picks and waited for her to back up, there was no one behind her and I had someone right up my clacker so there was nowhere for me to reverse.

apparently Im in the wrong and after much gesturing and middle finger saluting ITs entering my mind that perhaps she wants me to try and reverse over the car behind me. Not in the mood for this I send the missus into the shops and shut it down, grab a box of shapes and begin to sate my munchies.

Apparently this notcholant ignorance of her aged smoking finger pulling insult yelling rudeness is not what she appreciates so the obvious decision is.......

you guessed it use some thing about the size of a sub one ton 5 door echo to push a nearly 3 ton deefer out of the way shed only gone grill to bull bar by this stage and evidently by the look on her face this is normally enough intimidate people into getting out of her way

Not this guy. I was cooler thana being consisting zaphod beeblebrox iinbred with ford prefect inside a freezer in antarctica. I munched into another handfull of shapes....

her reaction was not as you would expect from someone whose badly loosing face to back off but to give it some noise.... after her grill was neatly reformed to mount my bullbar as a hood ornament she gave up backed up and I simple restarted and headed off to park.

Damage to big red. Nada, not even a scratch. Apparently the paint they use on the steel of my bull bar is also tough enough to resist damage by the plastic they use on a toymota.

so my light protectors now have the official Yep thems good.

Anyone want a set?

Its not...

its pretty much lobotomy central over here. picture inbred illterate hobo hippie redneck bogans with cars and your most of the way there.

Im just glad that big red has steel front and rear and the chassis keeps most of the body work up ontop of the crumply stuff they make their cars off.

That's hillarious but I can just see it. A similar thing happened when I was in a shopping centre in Jimboomba once with my mate in his old Landcruiser, she ended up diving under the corner and completely gouged the whole side of the bonnett. It was very ammusing but unfortunately it was a few years ago before mobiles had cameras.

Anyone want a set?

Yep....:)what's the part numbers, etc? Narva - that right?
Thanks.

By the way....isn't it sad when people think that a carpark is free rain - no rules. ...but then wonder why they get themselves and others into strife, either damaging their cars or others:mad:. Somehow it's ok to damage someone else's car.

I bet there was a child in with her too? ....learning what not to do in life....aaahhh, here comes the next generation!:o
