Water pump/pulley is squealing like a ****** I can hear it above the wind and motor at 110km/h...can't get it sorted to next week.
Can it seize?
Is there a way to lube it short term?

I first did dry lube on the serp belt....not that
The other pulley bearings are new or been recently regreased in last 3 weeks.
NOT the aircon comp as sound is fom water pump area.
Sprayed crc/WD40 on to it with no Change in squeal
Can only suspect it must be the water pump bearing..its all thats left with the exception of the alternator but sound is coming from water pump 90% positive.

Any suggestions "Oh Wise sages of the TDi":D
Short term fix/ bush mechanic hints etc

Not a sage, have grey hair does that count as wise, but I don;t sit on a branch at night going ' hoot, hoot'

now the experts will say don;t drive it its this and that and buy a new pump blah blah

My disclaimer , I am not an expert!! but have a TDI and many other cars in the past.

you could
try using the backyard spanner spinners stethoscope,
a long bladed screwdriver
( I use the big blue handled stanley one with the square shaft)
the blunt end on your ear and the pointy end on the suspect object, ( while the motor is going of course)
and listen that should tell you if its coming from there,
Time to destruction is anybodies guess i suppose.
I guess you could try sqirting heaps of crc or whatever you use up the front with the chance it may penetrate into the bearing, or even locate the drain hole and try squirting through there,

just a couple of 'backyard ideas' they may help.

Do you need to borrow a shopping trolley to pick the part up?
