G'day all,

As mentioned in another post I am about to put some more gauges in the Defender.

One thing I am missing and would dearly like to know is the temperature of my ZF HP22.

Has anyone fitted an oil temperature sender or some sort of temperature gauge to one of these units? If so what parts did you use?

Mine had one up until just recently. All they did was tap a hole in the sump and fitted it in that. The only reason it's not there now is I replaced the sump due to damage and the replacement didn't have the hole and I needed the rig running ASAP so decided to leave it for now.

the ZF i just got had a temp sensor in the oil line to the radiator.... i'll be using that with a VDO sender and gauge....

it came from a 93 Disco.

What the temperature read on a good run? The dealer told me the warning light comes on at "a certain temperature". They no not what. As usual.

Took my disco for some punishment and the sump was 90c consistantly.

Says that is an ok temp. I may have a faulty sensor.

PS those thermos are cool fun. The dog, my tongue, the couch, all got tested. And it has a laser pointer to play guns with when you get bored!

Warning light on the dash of the Disco D1 ZF comes on at 130C/266F and off at 123C/253F. Can't remember where I got it from, I think it was the RAVE CD
