Well -

Saturday saw me reverse the Defender into a 'protruding object' that proceeded to go straight through the rear window.

Any tips replacement? Windscreens O'Brian or ...??

It ought to be fairly simple - the window shape has remained unchanged for almost fifty years, and in fact, except for late Defenders with the pressed door frame, they are all more or less interchangeable.

But there are differences, which may or may not matter to you:-

Thickness
Tinting
Demister

When I broke mine (tinted, demister) I tried O'Brien, and several Landrover specialists. O'Brien - Landrover Australia has none in stock - six weeks ex UK. Both All Four x 4 Spares and Land Vehicle Spares could supply second hand ones, although not tinted.

Also tried the local wrecker in Dubbo (Scotts). They actually had a new tinted one (but no demister) in stock. As this was a lot cheaper (I found shipping glass round the country is very expensive), I got and fitted this.

So I suggest that you get on the phone and ask round.

i have a spare rear door at home that has Perspex in there.... you can get anti scratch perspex and it will then resist the odd stone throw off a trailer also
