I was waiting for stacey at the gym this arvo and still had a half hour to kill so i headed up to zig zag for a bit of a quick play and came to a set of cross roads and guess what i saw. 5 brand new defenders, 3 110's and 2 130's. the 130's were the first in the country and had only just had the tray made up for them. The 130 looks awsome. It was the official press launch, all of them were loaded up with journos and photographers, i asked a few and they commented on being impressed by them.

Nice find. Pictures without having to be asked as well!
And I too love those 130's. Wish the 110's came with those nice wolf rims as well. They make them look tougher than the alloys (I say anyway).

yeah mate i am still here, just havent had much time at the moment, every weekend has been packed with something or another and stacey has needed the computer a fair bit to do uni work, the rest of the time i am on my forum or updating the site.
Everyone thinks i am a looser, they cant understand how exciting it is to be cruising along in the bush thinking you have the place to yourself, being mid week people are rarely up there, and then having 5 new land rovers come across in front of you. it was a shock to say the least. and there was no way in hell they were getting away without me taking some photos, i followed them till they stopped got out snapped the pics and headed off. I didnt have much time to chat but talked to one of the photographers and he said it was great, and he was having a heap of fun. They were coming back on thursday they said so if anyone is off work and wants a drive go up to zig zag and hang around till you run into them. matt

What a shame there is no sunroof on any of the 100 Wagons.
At the Melbourne Motor Show, they had a Euro spec 110 Wagon which had a manually operated sunroof.
I was hoping that the sunroof would make it to Australia, since they deleted the front air flaps.... :(

Love that 130!!!! I see it's got the wolf rims and zxl tyres that it comes in the UK with as well.

Are you KIDDING? How much dust do you want getting in? Defenders have enough sealing problems without adding more orifices.:p

I spotted the convoy of new defenders yesterday also. They were heading down the Wolgan Valley late in the afternoon, probably to stay the night at Newnes. Later I saw their tracks which came out of the Newnes plateau area (down Blackfellows Hands Rd), so I presume they had been playing up there during the day. Only saw them flash past down the road unfortunately, but they are easy to spot due to the hump on the bonnet. :D:D
Will have to keep an eye out in the press/mags for the write-ups...:)

I hope these 'new' Land Rovers aren't sold off to unsuspecting buyers.
Motoring journos sometimes do terrible things to new cars.
Good spot, Ace!

I hope none of the press fleet vehicles cack-it like the D3 last year or the year before. We'll never hear the end of it then.

Pics don't work any more? :(
Which towbar is it? I have a Hayman Reese which although does reduce the departure angle a bit is great at protecting the fuel tank.

Hi all, they were all silver, but there were to shades, one was a darker one and the other was a really nice lighter colour, as can be seen in these official pics i just got in a press release for The 4wd Zone, thought you guys might be keen to see them. For those who know the Zig Zag tracks take a look at the 4th pic, that is on that section of track with the steep climb between the log and the rock with the large rock shelf/boulder at the top. Matt
Enjoy

It certainly was a suprise, as i came up the hill where that pic 4 is taken i crested the top and saw them all cruise across in front of me, the bonnet bulges gave them away. I hagve marcos to thank he wanted to go and play in the puddles whilt mum was at the gym.

One of the photographers for the launch was my next door neighbour. He bailed me up a couple of weeks back to crow about how much fun they had....
I just want one of those bonnets!
