D2 B/Bar Install - Help!

Hello All.

I have purchased an ARB Winch ready Bull Bar for my '00 D2.

Question is: Can I, with relatively bugger all technical skills, install the bar myself with mates providing assistance where necessary?

Is it rocket science? Apart from removing, inner guards, grill, front bar and existing crush cans...is there anything else to it? Is there anything that could easily go wrong? Is it hard to line the sucker up and make it level?

Any advise or reassurance would be appreciated. I have paid for the bar including installation fee but am on a 2+ week install waiting list.

It's very easy, you may need a hand to hold it in place while you put the bolts in, but you really don't need help, i did mine by myself.

Once the standard bumper is off, it should just slide onto the chassis rails where the bumper crush cans where, then bolt it up, too easy.

The lights on the new bar should just plug into the standard indicator plugs.

What happens to the inner guards, do they just come out completely and get disgarded or put back on? In relation to the parkers & indicators, do I manually tap into the factory loom or are there piggy back plugs which plug into the loom (if you can remember)?

The bar install is relatively easy. I did it myself with the help of a chain hoist. From memeory you may need a 1/2inch drill bit to drill an extra hole for a third bolt that helps lock the bar into place and prevent it from coming out of alignment. The inner gaurds get cut shorter but I made my own out of some heavy duty rubber and kept the originals. The indicators I think just use scotch locks that splice into the indicators. An auto electrician did mine at the same time when he did the trailer brakes for me. It took me a few hours to install including putting in a winch. With out the winch it should not take too long, just take your time and follow the instructions. A couple of mates to help lift into place and align.

Easy as to install, definetly do it yourself, the hardest part is actualy removing the old bumper alot of the bolts on mine were so caked with mud and crap i had trouble finding them! just dont forget the 3rd vertical bolt otherwise you will get it moving around alot at the slight knock, the D2 arb bars are well known for the movement issues.
