I know that Ford were looking to sell both LR and Jaguar.....and recently asked for expressions of interest...and even more recently suggested they'd had some interest.....anyone heard anything since?

So who owns LR now?

Whoops!! A quick google turned up this

http://business.timesonline.co.uk/tol/business/industry_sectors/engineering/article2836180.ece

It's a race between Tata, Mahindra and a private equity mob.........

FORD.

Probably will until the new year.
After that, I hope the Poms get it back.

I'd hate to think what will happen if India gets it!!

The new Land Rover would be a replica of a SII and the Jaguar a replica of a MKV ..

If the Indians get it, I apologise to all and sundry but I shall be buying my next 4wd from Toyota.

Brand loyalty can go out the window for all I care - has anyone seen the Mahindra utes? Bad news:eek::eek:

Have a look at this:

There was another in the same paper a few days back about Mahindra, but, sorry, can't find it...

Welcome to the brave new world, where everything will be made in Asia, or owned by Asian companies..
Hmmm...

Tatas history and its mergers-and-acquistions of recent is fascinating...

http://www.tata.com/

Soon every Landy and Jag will come with an incar teapot and lifetime supply of Tata Tetley tea:D

Some years ago I looked around a Jeep look alike Mahindra.... it was rusting although brand new, the front wheels rubbed against the inside of the wheel arches and the thing was generally crap and much worse build quality the a Defender, if that's possible.
As has been said, everything will be made somewhere in Asia in the future, made with steel from Asian owned steel mills and any complaints will be handled by an Indian Call Centre!
The future for LR or Jaguar is not looking rosey.

I remember reading a road test of the Mahindra jeep at the time, and the tester thought it would set a record for the amount of things that broke, fell off, or ceased to function during a road test!

We talking about the Mahindra Jeep that was a CJ2 replica with a Peugot Diesel? beware they still make the Morris Oxford in India but then again Brazil still makes the 62 Ford Falcon, its either time proven technology or they are still behind in the times
