Is there a fuel pump fuse?

Hi Guys, Well I have just walked out to start my '93 Disco' and once again I have a non working fuel pump. This is now the fourth one in 12 months ( 3 genuine and 1 aftermarket ).

It was running fine 3 hours ago when I clicked from gas over to fuel.

Is there a fuse for the pump outside the tank area or is it's "fuse" the one that is inside the fuel pump carriage?

OK, can someone tell me where the relay is for the v8 D1 fuel pump?

I might just try and short/bypass it to see if I can get the pump working, then at least I can drive out and get LPG and keep the car moving so I can use it tomorrow!

Pete, Have a look at the inertia switch behind the washer bottle. and try and press on the top to reset. It could be that it tripped and has shut off the fuel.
This is designed for safety in a collision to cut off fuel. They do play up sometimes.

Four pumps in twelve months seems a lot.
Your not running the petrol tank dry then going over to gas are you? I just had my wifes ford ute converted to gas and was advised not to run the petrol tank dry as the pump needs some fuel ( quarter tank) to cool and lube it as it runs continuously, even when on gas.

Narh, I always keep 1/4 in at most times. I always start on petrol then click over.

This "pump inside the tank" system is a pain because of exactly what you're saying, in that you have to keep the pump under the fuel at all times so that it wont dry out.

I'm thinking that I might do what Utemad has done and put on an external fuel pump.

I am wondering though if there is a way that I can get it started so that I can at least get to a servo' and fill up on the gas?

It won't help you now, but I have always used Morey's Upper Cylinder Lubricant regularly & I believe this helps with the lubrication of the in-tank pump.

It's worth a shot and I'm happy to try something new.

Are there others that have an opinion on this product?

Oh, final note, my fuel pump has started working again and the electric gremlin that stopped the lpg from functioning has disappeared.

I started using Morey's upper cylinder lubricant recently and I have noticed a difference with smoother acceleration and running.
I have not used enough to tell if it improves fuel consumption at all, but the injector cleaning properties seem to be working a treat.
So far I like it.

Aarh, for the most I love the thing, just occassionally it decides to bring me back to reality with a vengeance!

At least after the years I have had it, I know what noises it makes and what they mean and when a noise is not right. Just wish the electrics would give me a break!:D
