Looking at having to do a clutch change and I don't know what to do, as in stick with genuine or look for aftermarket.
I do a lot of city stop and start here in Melbourne going to work and back.
A bit hard to know as I've never realy had to do one.
Can anyone point me in the right direction?
I've had to do the master and slave cyl since getting here .:o

If the Defender has the same wizz BANG clutch set up as the TD5 Disco you may only have genuine as a choice.
I doubt there is a non genuine fluid dampened crutch on the market.
Mine has groaned when cold for 18 months or more, but now has a rattle whilst cold so I too may be in the same boat as you.
Let us know what prices you get.
Karcraft are always pretty good

The cane toad has started a groaning/growling noise when the clutch pedal is depressed and is difficult to select first. It feels that I may start snapping selectors if I keep trying. I found it easier to select second and then back to first to move off. Easy to change gears with the revs right when on the move.
Problem seems to be worse when cold. Its done 165000 ks.
Am I up for a new clutch here, it doesn't appear to be slipping.

All I know about them is that you need to buy the whole set, flywheel, clutch plate and pressure plate for them and it's not cheap.

There has to be someone out there that can come up with a better system than that, maybe a race engineer might be able to help out.

Just got the toad back from Brit Parts today after a complete new clutch assembly was fitted. Nice to drive again.
Did not work out quite as exy as I first thought. Composite flywheel, pressure plate, clutch plate, rear crankshaft seal and labour $2058. Not so good close to Xmas though.
I can see why the flywheel costs. ($750)

I have retained the old clutch and will investigate a possible alternative. If I have any luck I post the info here.

Trust thats all the drama for a good while.

Cheers
