I am thinking of splashing out for a FL2 for the wife as our main daily driver/town car. This would relegate the Disco to me as a weekender/dads car.:D:cool:
Are there any opinions yet on the FL2? Or still too new for any issues to surface?
I stress that as a daily driver predominately, it might not be the best option. I have also looked at the new Hyundai i30 diesals but as it's not a landy, I'll not ask about them!:o

Had a look at them at the 4WD show on the weekend. I like it, other than the front view takes a bit of getting used to.

But then I'm strange - I always liked the old model Freelanders as well. Very seriously considered buying one of them as a daily driver for the Mrs. Don't think the dollars will stretch to a new one as a second car though - they're a bit on the pricey side.

Make sure it's a TD4 Auto... Otherwise, as many options as you can afford. :D

I have a TD4 SE and man it rocks.

I haven't taken it offroad all that much yet so no comment there.

However as a daily driver its fantastic, the TD4 has so much torque that it will pull up any hill with bugger all effort, it has good road manners, goes round corners nicely and runs pretty efficiently.

Its also very safe with a heap of airbags and DSC. Comfortable and easy to drive its a great car to drive to work each day.

Get Rimini Red too... Looks bloody awesome!

I second that, I have been in Davo's new FL2, and onroad its beautiful. Offroad, it demolishes any other softroader ive been in. It slaughters my FL1. Everything it does is smooth, easy and controlled. Gives a feeling of cinfidence nomatter what you drive it into, mud, rain or traffic. EASY.

Yep, I'm quite taken with the new Freelander, and just like Ralph1Malph I am considering one for my wife. Her 2002 Ford Focus is starting to feel a little bit tired, and a TD4 Freelander 2 would be an excellent replacement. Some critics reckon it isn't as good as the BMW X3, but they're obviously missing the point of the Freelander.

djhampson is right about Rimini Red. That's the colour of my D3!

I think it has more to do with the auto rather than anything else in the FL2. An auto helps hide a lot of deficiencies.

Your probably right because its got a really good auto box in it. Very predictable and it doesn't really ever go searching for the right gear or change unexpectedly.

400Nm@2000rpm of torque helps make up for a lack of low range too.

That's only 40Nm less than the TDV6 in the Disco 3. Wow!

And 40 more than the V6 D3 has... a fact I remind my father of regularly. :D

But it is $25K cheaper and I don't think it is $25K less of a car.

Regardless if you could all please stop talking about the FL2 as I wont see mine until February :(. They tell me it got built this month, just waiting for the boat trip over.
