Hi All,
I know that many of you will have the LR towbar & wiring loom fitted as standard. I don't:(
I am considering, based in a lister's info, fitting a Mitchell Bros tow hitch.
These hitches are still in production (& don't include the "gooseneck" or the wiring loom. Further, they say that I should get the LR wiring loom (I'm not sure why).
When I contacted a LR spare parts place, the guy was confused, as he "knew" that ALL D3s had the towbar & loom.
On Friday last, I contacted Aaron at Mitchell Bros. He said that, if I gave him the VIN, he could let me know the LR part no. for the loom. As at 6:15 today, I still haven't heard back from Mitchell Bros.
Can anyone advise me as to how I can determine the LR part no. for the towbar connection wiring loom ( the VIN is SALLAAA175A3366822).
Thanks,

I really thought that I responded to your request, did I not??
I remember that the loom alone was around $173-00 and I gave you the part number which was to suit the UK version??
Am I dreaming??

What loom are you after? I'm in the process of towing with the D3 for the first time, and as far as I can see, all you need is an adapter to take the UK-style big tow socket(s) on the D3 to whatever your trailer has here (My new camper trailer has a small, 7-pin round one). Looks as though Supercheap do all sorts of adapter plugs/leads for around $27.

I'm beginning to suspect that the early D3s were supplied without the towing loom, while more recent version have them fitted.
If you have the "plugs" enjoy. I don't.:mad::mad:

My D3 (Build Feb 2005) is one of the first few deliveries in Australia and it came with factory fitted wiring and hitch. Back in 2005 there was no option ASFAIK to specify a tow pack, they just came fully equipped.
When was yours built and what model is it (S, SE or HSE)?

That would be pretty poor luck, but at least you get to fit something decent!

I have a feeling you need "Wiring Kit Tow Bar # YWJ500201".
Your selling dealer should have fitted this on PD or soon after.

Hi Chris, Thanks for your reply. IIRC the build date was Mar 2005, Model is S.

Thanks Scouse,
I have the feeling that you are quoting the UK wiring loom pt. no. (which may well be the same for Oz).
My D3 is a 2005 D3, & NO trailer wiring looms are included.
I bought this car in the last month or so & LR assures me that there are NO outstanding issues with it.

If it's any help, mine has the two large UK style (12N and 12S) sockets as opposed to the smaller round ones which seem to be common here, so I'm not sure there is an Aus spec wiring loom for towing?

Not many cars have needed it though.

Hi Again Scouse,
Would you please advise me as to how organise LRA to get this fitted?
Is it a "no cost" fit?
Many Thanks,
Scouse

Many Thanks,You'd have to approach your dealer & I would imagine they'd need to get authority from Land Rover to fit the harness (because it should have been done on Pre Delivery or soon after).
If your local dealer is Trivetts in Parramatta, send me a PM me with your details.
