Are you sure it is not the mother board?

Pedro
Download the drive manufacturers diagnostic tool this is probably the best at this point.
You could always download http://www.ultimatebootcd.com/
this may be easier as it has the diagnostics for all brands of drive.
It may even allow you to recover the drive or alternately give you the error codes for a warranty claim.
Chkdsk has its limitations

Pedro,

What is the power like to your place? I'm not taliking about power surges but periods of low or fluctuating voltage or frequency.

A very good investment is either a UPS or the cheaper alternative is a proper line conditioner (e.g APC Line-R 1200, about $120).

One thing that will affect drives is poor power.

This may not solve your immediate problem but I would recommend it if you don't already have a UPS.

if you can partition around them you can use it, otherwise it is screwed :P

you can still use a HDD with "marked" bad sectors, for a while, could be for one day could be 5 years !
In my experience however once you get bad sectors it won't be long till it's dead. They seem to spread, the bad sectors are faults on the surface of the platters.
Scan it again in a couple of days you will prob. have more.
About 10 years ago this was common and accepted but now I would return it and demand an exchange.
This comes under the "not fit for the purpose for which it is intended"
