G'day all, might seem that my PC has a virus. My screen has horozontal lines on it moving down and some times the screen will taper inwards to the centre.
How can I fix this?
Cheers Easo

Is it an LCD or good old tube type screen, it sounds more like either your screen's shot or the video card. If you can borrow or use another screen plug it in and see what happens.

how long is a piece of string?
my next ones around $400,,
You'd want to spend at least $100
or,
buy a new Motherboard,, that has onboard graphics,,
agp or PCI?

If its an old tube screen then I'd say that is most likely you're problem. If you want to confirm this I would hook it up to another PC and see if it does the same thing.
If it does (and I suspect it will, may need to warm up so if at first it doesn't, leave it for an hour) an LCD is the best option and as far as what to buy... well Samsung and LG make half the screens anyway (e.g. those nice iMac ones are actually an LG)

It sounds like it could be the monitor and have nothing to do with the cpu at all.
At least it's easy to find out if u can borrow a monitor and just plug one in to test it.
Video card..... I doubt it but rpice range from 50 bucks up wards... and i mean upwards...

actually Easo,, I'd remove and reset the card first,,
and make sure the drivers are up to date,,
how hot is the inside of the case?
covered in dust maybe?
do you know what model the card is?

My wife plays the SIMS on our putor and now for some reason its comes up with a Graphic error and the screens goes mental, so you restart and its fine, probably the video card is acting up but its only fairly new, must be cheap junk,

the lines across your screen sound like either bad video memory or bad system memory if your video is onboard.
If its under warranty get them out as this will be fixed under warranty
