G'day Guys,
I already have an Acer PDA with built in GPS running Travroute and Ozi but also want to run Ozi on my laptop for planning and as a back up option.
I have seen a GPS Mouse - USB type on evilbay and want to know is this all I need? and how does the specs of this mouse look?

Hi Mark - That will do the job for oziexplorer - I have an older version of one, otherwise it is the same. If you do get one, three things that might pop up:
1. When you plug it in to the usb port, the cursor might start to wander all over the place - just remove and re-insert in a smooth motion. For some unknown (to me, anyway) reason it upsets the laptop. 2. After insertion, go into system and find which com port has been assigned to the gps - you then have to tell ozi what com port (even though it is a usb) to use. Most times it ends up as com6. 3. Ozi works for me on a 'NMEA only' setting - the extra functions may not be available with the older versions of ozi

consider a bluetooth GPS reciever that way you have less wires to worry about. You can put the reciever anywhere you like and makes it more transporable to different vehicles and you get the same com port each time.
I got one for about $100 with built in rechargable battery & solar power.
If your laptop doesn't do bluetooth you can buy a bluetooth reciever on ebay for a few bucks. Worth thinking about.

I got a 32 channel one of ebay - works well but took a fair bit of fiddling to get it working. Documentation left a lot to be desired in the translation department....
Anyway now that it's working it works great - gets a fix almost instantly and has never lost it from sitting on the dash. I'm using with TrackRanger and Co-Pilot.
