Utemad

Well, I was confused. Maybe it should be called "Discovery minus 3" forum.
If you take the Disco1, Disco2 and Disco3 that makes Disco6. If you minus 3 that gives us a Disco3 forum and we already have one of those.
Why would you propose a second Disco3 forum? :bangin:
WhiteD3
15th December 2007, 08:50 PM
ok. Call it the Disco 3 forum less the disco 2's and 1's which would give you the Disco Zero forum......provided you don't drive a Disco 3 that is:(....but it does sort of rhyme.....:D

Is it called the Discovery 3 in OZ?
In the Middle East it is known as the LR3
Anyway nice to see a forum specifically for Disco's whatever their number :)
Slunnie
15th December 2007, 11:55 PM
Gday SharkyUAE,
Yeah, they've called it the Discovery3 in Australia rather than LR3 which I think they also use in the USA. I guess we just call a spade a spade down here rather than sugar coating it.

You can't split the D & D2's, the D1's with there 200 & 300 Tdi's will have no one to brag to about how good there engines are compared to the
Td 5's. :D:D:D
And the D2 owners just whinge about how there crap there engines are so that won't make it a happy forum will it.;);)

That there is a verrrrrrrrrry dangerous comment around here.
It might have also been safer to split up the V8 heads and the Diesels to save arguements.
Only Joking though guys, Ive pulled out a D3 and a couple of D2's so Im not predjudice to just D1's.
At least they arnt Tojo's, Pootrols or Freeloaders.

Hi all Disco lovers,
Has anyone had issues with Disco2 (TD5) leaking oil into injector harness?
My 2000 model leaked during warranty & then again out of warranty. LR let me off with 50% on second occasion as I always had vehicle serviced by them.
Also had problems with ABS sensor and ABS modulator. Sensor replacement required entire new hub, and then 3 months later bloody light came back again! Turned out to be the wiring harness not the sensor after all.
A year later ABS light on again. This time computer diagnosed switch failure in ABS modulator. Initial quote was for $4000+, but after checking online found out that there was a kit to repair modulator & only $250 inc labour. Advised LR who by then also knew about the kit.
Other than these issues I love my TD5 & am considering trade up to D3 TDV6.
I'll check out D3 forum for any issues have surfaced with this model, but maybe too early yet?
Cheers..Bruiser:)

The engine is a THOR that was bastardised by Septic Tanks and sold to Landrover. They work great, except for maintenance, you have to carry spares at all time.
My wife has to use dark gloves to hide the dark stains on her hands from helping me.
She carries the usual useful things in her handbag, #15 metric spanner, serpentine belt , 2342 mm of it, alternator brush assemble and regulator plus other spanners of various metric sizes and swarfega hand cleaner plus useful self tapping screws and BA bolts.

The best thing i've found for cleaning hands is saad wonder spray on liquid fabric soap. Great on your missus hands and where ever else she may wish to use it. Mine believes it is a fine aromatic cologne using the best of australian gum leaves for scent. My ex wife thought it was most perfect for her own colonic irrigation. Needless to say she is no longer with us

Hi,
I have owned a '94 Tdi Disco for a bit over a year. It has been terrific, we've driven it from Canberra to Queensland and 3 trips down to Victoria. I towed a horse float to Victoria and back and it went well. Acceleration and power up hills was good until about 3 months ago. Now it can't maintain speed up a serious hill, let alone accelerate. It just dies back, while going through the gears.
I had the engine serviced, all good. Took it to the auto transmission place as I thought that could need a service. They advised that the torque converter is not working properly and that metal filings and fibre fragments in the filter mean that the gear box could die within weeks, unless I get the transmission rebuilt for about $5,000 to $6,000. Are they having a lend of me? It doesn't seem that bad to drive. They showed me the filter and there did not seem to be much in the way of anything in it.
Could I get away with a new torque converter. If it really does need another transmission, are there cheaper reconditioned alternatives?

You first need to SAVE AS the pic from the 'net onto your desktop/download folder.
Just below the big AULRO banner (top of the page)
on the left there is a gallery tab, click it.
on the left there is a MY PHOTOS tab, click it.
on the same level but all the way across the page is the UPLOAD PHOTO tab, click it.
2/3rds of the way down the page on the left is an unfinished tab SELECT FILES FOR UPLOAD, click it.
search your PC for the pic, right click on it to highlight it, then click open.
small progress bar will function.
click on the submit button.
wait.
wait.
photo will appear in MY PHOTOS,
double click to open
below the pic there are details of the pics location.
I highlight the bottom one(make sure the whole location is highlighted, some of it will be hidden on the right)
then Ctrl C to copy it.
In the desired post there is a scenic/mountain/postcard icon, click on that.
Ctrl V to insert pic location.
finish writing post.
submit.
it IS easier than it writes;):D

G,day folks, well after 20 plus years of driving toyotas Ive taken the plunge and bought a v8 disco 1. Bit scary to lose that reliability of diesel tojos, but Im hoping itll be worth it. Had a couple of what I call landrover moments ie running sweet as a nut. . . .then all of a sudden wont start. . . . then it will, thinking immobilizer issue. But apart from that and its endless thirst I LOVE IT. drives smooth as silk an plenty of power [after 3l diesel tojo] anyway Im sure ALRO will come in very handy, it already has to fix my rear windows. thanks guys. I finally got me an upgrade, not a huge one, but an upgrade none the less.
Brought home my very first "newish" Land Rover today, a 1995 D1 2.5 TDi 5 speeder, 3 door model.
Needs a few screws tightened here and there, or is that just me still rattling from the old S3?
Can't complain though, a little over 200K on the clock and she only cost me $2000.
Seems to motor along quite nicely, good to actually be able to keep up with traffic flow on the highway at last, it's got real heaters, and sure is a change from rattle and clank in the old girl. Can't for life of me figure out how the Kenwood stereo works, but no big deal, I don't like radios in cars much.
Well, see ya's on the road with the usually Landy wave some time folks.

Hi guys and Gals,
I've been a long time lurker on the forum and you have all been a lot of help.
Bought my 97 Tdi SE new and now has 211,000km's.
Not really had any issues with the exception of a cracked head due to the dodgy temp gauge and my low level sensor not working. Was replaced with a second hand head. She has started using water so in the next few months I'll take the head off and have a look. The SealUp worked for a while and just dropped in some Fiberlock yesterday.
Rust has been eating away in the usual places so I'm in the process of fixing it atm plus a lot of other maintenance so prepare for some questions.

I recently started 4x4 with some friends and they are hard core( gees arm, coffs, killy loop, whitemans, ctp80, all the watagans really). Mostly cruisers and patrols modified off their heads but I just inherited my dad's 1992 D1 3.5L V8 in ok condition and 253k on the clock stock standard.
I want to build it up to drive the extreme they do as the bug has bitten me hard. Looking into 4inch lift, double lockers, crawler gear, 35's and adjusted diff ratios to suit. We are planning a cape run july 2017 so need to get moving.
Advise, suggestions, ideas all greatfully recieved.
Look forward to the project and having a tough capable truck.
Hope to hear from your experiences

You don't need all that for a cape run. Stock standard with a snorkel would be good enough. 1 to 2 Inch lift, lockers and 235/85 muddies with a camel cut will show your mates where they went wrong.

HELLO! Hello... Thank you for the welcome, Is but anybody still there?
Why do I disturb other (us) oldies? Easy! I want a new 7inch fold-out screen head unit non-motorised, to fit into the 1Din slot! It fits!
My 1996 Disco 1 radio wiring colours are weird, definitely NOT a-la CD11 Rave Disco E6. The Radio, aka Z111, is a 7479R Eurovox, no CD changer. The plug- in cable colours differ, about the only good things are the paired speaker cables, with black lines delineating earth(?), so the speakers are sort-of identified.
E6? Am I even looking in the correct place? Is there a amendment I haven't dug up yet?
Thanks, DaffyB
