Guys,
I'm thinking of upgrading from tired County seats to newer Defender seats.
Good idea??
Much difference?
I assume they are still two part for under seat access?
Thanks,
David

Not having sat in a county , I find my Defender seats comfortable for what they are:D
And yes two piece for under seat access

As far as I know, with the possible exception of 2007, the front seats are identical except for the material used to trim them. The only improvement in comfort will be because they are in better condition.

I recently replaced the foams in my County seats, making a significant improvement in comfort (See the last AULROVIAN). Found them quite comfortable driving to Perth and back recently (10,000km in three weeks).

Thanks Chris & John.:)
John, I did read your tutorial a while ago and may do up the "old" seats when time permits.

Never noticed any difference between 120" seats and 130 seats. As above, near as identical.

Cheers

Fit in exactly the same and look good as well, very comfortable to boot.

brindo75 on AULRO has them fitted to his '86 County, bought back & front out of roll over Defender at last year LROC Expo for a song $200 for the lot...and I'm cursing as my fronts are just about shot and looking also to replace after 10 years of hard life & 218,000km a little dissapointing actually. They actually have needed replacing for two years :(

The mounts to the seat box might be slightly different. On my county 120 the seat was mounted with 2 smaller bolts at each corner where as the Defenders have a slightly bigger single bolt each corner. I just removed bottom part of seat frame from the Defender seats and used original county mounts/sliders.

......On my county 120 ......

?? I didn't realise that the 120 was sold with the County trim level?

Are you sure it is a County?

John

(County is a Landrover term for a level of deluxe trim - used for some models of Range Rover, Series 3, 90/110 and, I think, Defender. I was under the impression that the Australian 120 was sold only with basic trim.)

Not sure. The seats where cloth trim with the hard plastic backs which I had seen in the County. Same door trim but floors not carpet but thick rubber. Also as not aircond. the dash is standard Defender with flaps.
It is definately an Isuzu 120, just assumed it was also known as a County.

The County refers to the trim level, and all Isuzu station wagons sold in Australia had this trim - included (from memory) tinted glass, carpets, cloth trim, rear window demist and washer/wiper, radio/cassette, clock, and probably a few other trimmings - but not aircon - that was always optional.

The 120 was an Australian special, a 110 cab/chassis with a section added to the chassis to increase the wheelbase. But I don't believe they were equipped to the County trim level or, in fact ever referred to as Counties. They were discontinued when the 127" chassis became available, although I have an idea there was a gap, and I don't believe it was ever supplied with an Isuzu - that role was filled by the civilian 6x6.
